1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Woodland Creature Gallery! on: July 09, 2010 02:48:59 PM
Alright, pictures! I finally got internet again (just moved) and was trying to do all this through hubby's phone. Works, but also takes like 15 mins to write a message and that was a pain in the butt. So here's my wonderful package:

howling wolf pillow. the picture does not do it justice and it's kind of dark, but it's the only one i could take before the kids yoinked it.

bowl with a closeup of the resting deer on it

acccoooorrrnnns! i think they're going to live in my car as cuter version of fuzzy dice

i love this. raven silhouette

and my favorite, the deer pitcher. i took it outside to water my plants (thus the chubby baby feet). the handle and lid top is painted red. it's amazing

thank you murbeck, i feel so spoiled!

3  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Woodland Creature Swap (sign up closed, send out June 30) on: June 15, 2010 09:04:54 AM
Alright, I'm just moving into my place today so I won't have internet hook ups until the 1st of next month. I'll send out and try to post updates through my hubby's phone so you all know I'm not flaking. On the bright siiiiiddddde. I have all my materials, ideas, and now without internet or tv to distract me, lotttttts of craft time. Cheesy . hubby even started getting interested in the stuff in my craft boxes ("i didn't even know you HAD this much crap...") and he was trying to make himself stuff out of polymer clay. it was ridiculously adorable.

yep, crafting has always been my therapy. that or even googling ideas. i can do that for hours, i just get so carried away. i'm right on track now. have a million-and-a-half ideas and now chatting up my swap partner right now so she can hopefully narrow them down. last month i was dealing with some issues and i feel like i neglected my last one. i just pretty much holed up and crafted, so i'm trying to be extra attentive.

No action pics yet- in the process of moving and the little ones are with the grandparents, but here's the pictures. They're all so adorable, and I LOOOOOVE the taggie blankets. I never had one, but I adored the kitty fabric with the checkers on the back and the crinkly noise it made. Awesome package.

adorable little bags. pink and sparkly. right up their alleys. (pics don't do 'em justice)

annnnnnnd, the cutest onsie evarrr.

Thanks so much xoxheatherae !

9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / 2nd attempt at embroidery- mantel hanging (lots of pics) on: June 06, 2010 10:03:45 AM
So I was inspired by humboldtcherry's door hanging and decided to make a mantel hanging for my own home. It's based off of swedish and norse folk art, as well as german hex designs. I finished 2 flaps and have 7 more to go, but I was super excited and had to post 'em. Work in progress.

For both I used white aida and sketched my design in pencil then started stitching. Eventually I'll make a piece that ties em all together. I only ever did cross stitching before, so the other techniques are literally the first time I tried them.

The first is my welcome sign. It took me about 2 hours and I used padded and satin stitches and cross stitches.

The next is my distlefink, which is for good luck, and the tulips are for love and happiness. It took about 2 hours as well and is also the padded and satin stitch (see, i'm getting better from the first one, lol) and cross stitches.

So that's it for now. Next up is my dala horse. Teaser:

I like snakes a lot too, but I didn't want to put it. I have a couple acres here in the desert in socal and there are rattlers around. I'd hate for the little ones to think they're all plushy and harmless and try to touch it- especially if the nearest hospital is over 20 mins away. raccoons and foxes are super cute, i should have put that down. tomorrow i get a parttnerrrrrr, tomorrow i get a partnerrrr.
