Awe and some!  I'm almost speechless.  I just hope that the party isn't in any thatched roof cottages, THATCHED ROOF COTTAGES!

Nope. Just at our condo. cocktails and cake! But if there are any thatched roof cottages (!) in Atlanta... they had better watch out. Wink

I still think it's adorable. I love to see how other people do recipes that I use. Smiley

I need to find the picture I took of The Cheat on the cake. I'm really proud of that little guy.

Also, I did "Eh! Steve!"... kinda obscure, but still.

I spent 7 hours on this thing. Mainly because EVERYTHING is freehand cut out and stuck together through the wonders of water makes it all stick together. Smiley

It's for my boyfriend's BFF's birthday on Saturday. The bottom two layers are one chocolate, one french vanilla with butter cream in between. The top two layers are one chocolate, one friend vanilla with raspberry preserves in between. Should be tasty. First time with Fondant. It's like playdoh! Smiley

Now with more pictures...

I'm gonna ruin this pretty cake... but first I need to drink some little penguin shiraz...

Next comes Marzipan...

Bubs...

Homestar Runner

The King of Town

Strong Sad

Homesar - without the writing on his shirt, I know, it's nuts... but those are lowercase letters, ya know? I've been drinkin' little penguin and doin this for 6+ hrs at this point...

Eh! Steve!

The Cheat

Strongbad

I apparently didn't take a picture of PomPom on the cake, but here he is without a face and napping on some tinfoil..

Insert Burnination Here... Beware, Thatched Roof Cottage Dwellers!

You did yours different than I do mine. I go for realism, because I'm a cat owner and a sick pup. Smiley
I use spice cake and white cake, bake 'em, crumble them up, mix it together with a box of made instant pudding (vanilla), then I crush my cookies (I like the blonde oreos, but nillas work great too) and put a handfull into a separate baggie and dye those chunks blue with food color, then I mix the cookies all together for the top of the cake. add the tootsie poops and I'm done!

This was what I could always be counted on to bring to office pot lucks. People were skeptics at first, because it was served with a poopie scoop, and out of a litter box, but I had some strange coworkers would would ask others to save a turd for them. Weirdos. Smiley

I would love to see a fondant covered cake with little red cherries on it. I'm a bit nutty over cherries since I grew up in N. Michigan and going to the National Cherry Festival in Traverse City.

Just a suggestion for your next cake!  Grin

It's stunning. Simple. Everything I love about wedding cake. (And I don't have to worry about the calories just by looking at your pictures!)
18  COOKING / Dessert / Fondant... a question about it. on: April 02, 2008 03:50:57 PM
I just made my first gob of Marshmallow Fondant.

I need advice on two things... the first is - how in the heck should I go about coloring this stuff? I've got gel food coloring, primary colors, and aside from knowing what colors to mix to get other colors (except for black - advice on that is appreciated too) I'm at a bit of a loss...

Secondly... my siamese cat is very interested in licking my hands now. I've washed them and there's no reason he should be so obsessed. Do your cats just love the smell of marshmallows as much as mine does? He's also really nutso over marshmallow peeps, so I'm sure it's not the fact that I spent 10 minutes with my hands bathed in crisco...

I think if you changed the orientation of the ribbon it would make a world of difference. An inverted V, instead of it just cutting straight across, would be pretty.
