wow this is amazing! I'm going to the show in March and because nobody ever seems to dress as space magenta im hoping to make something similar to this, but iv only got 2 months and I'm a bit worried i wont be able to do it  Sad any pointers or tips? and how did you get/make the wig? Thanks x

Thanks for your kind comments. Yes, it does seem that the space dress is so often overlooked. 2 months is plenty of time to gather materials and get this made. It took me 8 hours from store to finished product, plus a little time for planning my pattern. I can post a little sketch of how I cutout my fabric if you like. As for the wig I used a brown afro wig and styled it with hair spray and bobby pins till I got the shape as close as possible. Then I use a white wool stick-on wizard beard and cut it in two and used that for the wigs white strips up the sides. I just bobby pin and hair sprayed them to secure them in place.

I know it sucks that somebody is hot linking your images and that they did not include a reference with a link to this post or any thing. But i just wanted to point out that no where in the post mentioned does the poster claim that they made the tutorial and in the first line they say here is a tutorial that i have translated.

This has been a repeated offense. I was able to contact directly with other offenders and have the issue resolved, but I was not able to contact the poster of the link I mentioned. I would have to say at least 3 times I have come across my tute being claimed as someone else's (all the while using my photos) and not a link or mention of credit in sight.

This is just an update for the many people who have bookmarked this post. You may have noticed that I have removed all the photos of the hats that I have made. I have reasons for doing this but I did leave up the tute. If anyone would like further information please send a pm, thank you.

THANK YOU!!! This helped me so much. I fell in love with a mini top hat at Icing, but I didn't want to pay the $16.50 plus tax. I'm glad I came across this. My mom was skeptical at first, but she came around. ^^ I ended up loving my first one much more than the one in the store..........................And I plan to do more. ^^ I have a lot of fun with this. Oh, and I had to specially make an account on this site just so I could show you. Also, I didn't stick to your exact measurements so mine doesn't look as thin and tall.

I am so happy the tute worked for you. Your hats came out great! As for the height and thickness change to the hat size it is all personal taste, I have a round thick face so the measurement I gave work best for me but may not for others I am glad you found what works best for you! Enjoy making more hats and please feel free to post pics or links of your future hats here!

That is perfect, I think it looks just like her costume from the movie.  I looooove the gloves!

thanks, and the gloves were totally last minute and wasn't sure if I had enough fabric left but I lucked out and was able to piece together some of my scraps to make them.

Dang this is cool! I performed in rocky horror at my local theater for 3 years and your costumes were better than our magenta's! Great job you should do costumes for rocky theaters!

Thank you. I would love to do costumes for a rocky group but sadly we don't have any in my area (Fairbanks, Alaska) this production that I went to was a "One Night Only" event for Halloween.

It was great and I do hope that they do it again next year. They must have had 400-500 people or more show (and they only had rented a room for and set out chairs for about 100 to start, they had to open up entire ballroom in the building were it was showing).

I don't know if there is a big call for space suit rocky costumes, but I could be wrong in which case perhaps I could sell them online...... Wink

i'm impressed! I haven't been brave enough to tackle space magenta yet Smiley

Thanks. I have to say tho that space magenta was the only costume I felt comfortable enough to wear (yes, I admit I have body image issues, which is so out of place at a RHPS production). Besides I didn't want to blend into the sea of frenchmaid-type magentas (and boy were there a lot of them).

I think I was the most photographed person there and was continually mistaken for a cast member (I don't know how many times I had tell people "Oh I'm sorry I don't work here" or "I don't know I'm not in the show, but ask a cast member they can help you."
