Needed to refresh this since I'm considering doing the costume myself this year.

I have a slight dilemma on the skirt too since I would love to wear it as a regular regency dress but lift it somehow when I want to look like I'm about to attack some zombies.  The idea that I came up with but not sure if its going to work is this:

I was thinking of putting ribbon through the skirt, kind of weaving in and out and attaching it to the bottom.  Then I was going to attach either all the ribbon to a button or have a button for each ribbon at the waist line.  And when I'm ready for action, I pull on the buttons to bring the skirt up, thus freeing my legs for some high kicks, hypothetically. 

Does this sound doable?  Does anyone else have another idea?

Been meaning to post this and its really the simplest but most elegant looking centerpieces that I have ever seen.  My SO created them for my sister's bridal shower since we wanted something simple but pretty to put on the tables. 



He basically found mirrors, bowls, and blue stones at the dollar store.  It was like $1 per bowl, mirror and bag of stones.  Then we bought an orchid plant and some flowers for the rest.  And we just happened to have some distilled water (which eliminates oxidation of the water) lying around to fill it with.

And everybody loved them which was the best part.

Thank you for the ideas.  The bf is starting to scrap my idea of doing crafts though, thinking our friends won't appreciate them.  So the idea is still up in the air.

I made a zombie sock monkey for the Zombie swap from last year.



I will probably do something along the same lines, maybe less girly.

I honestly thought up the cheapest costume a few months ago.  Not sure how you feel about the series but you could be a vampire from Twilight.  Just put on some preppy/expensive looking clothes, pale up a bit with make-up then put glitter on exposed skin.  So simple.

Hey! I got my package from our awesome organizer, tattooedcrafter, and she totally outdid herself.  It is completely awesome!!!


First a robot desk organizer, he is so cute!


Then a zombie bunny and a zombie head ornament


The zombie bunny's brain is removeable, he fits right in with your rabbit puppet from Spamalot


These awesome coasters made from plastic cups


This one is my fav since it reminds me of my Shaun of the Dead


An awesome journal and skully hang painting (which is already on a door in my apartment)


A plastic bottle necklace and knitster earrings (I love the earrings!!)


Lots of robot love!!!  They are hanging in the bedroom above my dresser, I couldn't wait to get them up!


And finally an awesome Hershey's/Reeses totebag, it spells like chocolate too!

Everything is so awesome and completely right off of my wish list, which I haven't had before.  I love it so much, and I have a place for everything to show off!!

I made this sock monkey for my partner in the Zombie Swap and I'm really proud of it.  There was a fair amount of help from my bf with it too.  He's usually the one who pushes my crafts to that new frontier.

There's the colon and surprise! A banana!  She's a monkey, duh!

Here are the pictures like Sera mentioned.  Her themes were saxophones, birds, bananas, and lime green jell-O.


First an embroidered totebag.  I created the pattern myself, thought it was pretty cool.

Its hard to tell, but I made green "jell-O" and placed it in a cup inside a birdcage.  The "jell-O" is gel wax that I dyed.

And probably the funniest thing, a banana bird. 


A better pic of his face.  He also squeaks like a bird.  I unfortunately had to take apart a squeaking bird I found at JoAnns for the voicebox, but its a funny addition.

I also sent her a canister painted with a white dove on top and ivies with a box of lime green jell-O inside.  Found the canister at the thrift store, wanted to paint over it but I couldn't get myself to do it.  Thought was awesome on its own.

I received my package from Sera unravled today finally!  Found out why it may have taken so long.


This is how I received the package.  A little bent out of shape.  This is honestly the second time I've received something beaten up like this. 

But luckily everything inside was unharmed.

My themes were forensics, pin-up girls, skulls, and argyle.


Here's a painting based off of a facial reconstruction drawing that Sera found online.  And of course the background is an awesome pink and black (my favorite color combo) argyle.  Rocks!


And this awesome skully hat!  It rocks!

Everything is awesome, I love it!  Now I have to find a place to hang my painting.  Thank you again, Sera!!  And thank you for organizing, ptarmic wumpus!

First there was a pillow cover with an awesome zombie/cupcake applique on it.  We will have to buy a small pillow to fit it so we can show it off at Halloween


Then some awesome pajama pants which will make a showing on the Disney Cruise in September


The most adorable zombie octopus amigurumi!!!  He's so cute and his eyes are googly!!


These two boxes which are highly appreciated since my crafting desk is just cluttered with things that I have no place for right now


Some awesome buttons, which I have to find a purse or belt or something to show them off on


And a little extra thing, a light up brain!!!  Its so perfect for our Halloween decorations!

First a Frankie totebag.  He's so cute! 


Something we definitely need, potholders!!  They go great with my kitchen, our color scheme is white, black and silver.  We have red throughout the rest of the house too.


A devil duckie bathscrub and a skeleton headband, which I have been wanting for a while now.  Don't know how she knew.


Oh and the devil duckie goes right along with another bathtub friend of mine hehe


And lots of other little things.  An octopus necklace, skully patch, skully earrings, froggy keychains, and doomy magnets.
