1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / How do I use the Janome One Step Buttonhole? on: June 01, 2006 01:30:41 PM
I have the Janome Sewist 525S sewing machine and I can't find the directions anywhere.  I need to make buttonholes for my sewing class but have no clue how to use the one step buttonhole, or how to make a buttonhole at all on this machine.  If anyone can help I'd REALLY appreciate it.  My proeject's due tomorrow!!

Thanks.  I picked up some Mod Podge and some spray sealer today.  I'm going to try it out tomorrow.
3  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Decoupaging a Dresser with Bazooka? on: August 01, 2005 03:15:16 PM
I bought a box of Bazooka gum at a local wholesale store and I wanted to decoupage the comics on my dresser.  Originally, I wanted to cover the whole thing with silver Wrigley wrappers but that took FOREVER.  So I'd rather decoupage, plus I think it would be a lot cooler looking.

So my problem is, I have no idea where to even start with decoupaging.  I keep hearing things about Mod Podge.. What is it? I've seen it at AC Moore but have never really looked at it. Do you use it just to adhese the pictures on or do you put it on the top to seal it as well? And, would the plastic-like pictures not decoupage easily?

It makes sense, I'll try too.  Usually, whenever I try and overlap stitching I always get a hole in my piece. Sad

Great tutorial!!

How do you serge in a circle? I'm a serger newbie (I have an Elna) and I can serge straight lines but how do you start from the middle of a piece rather than the end? And don't you have to sew off the fabric making it not completely nice and finished looking..but pointy sort of? ahhhh

..But I'm not sure where I'd buy them or how I'd attach them.  :\

How would I go about making a jacket like this?

Yes, I know it's a cartoon and it doesn't give much to work with but I just love Noodle and her jacket and I'd love to have one of my own.  I was thinking about buying a pattern for an asian jacket with that vertical collar and improvising.  However, it's not that easy to improvise with a pattern.  But maybe it is? I'm too scared to try until I'm finished lol.

Anyone know where I can get closures like that? I was thinking about maybe attaching the kind you see on metal tins.
