1  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Is interfacing necessary for applique? on: January 04, 2011 02:49:51 PM
I have some fabric letters that just so happen to spell my name. I was hoping to attach them to a quilt top. Is it possible just to pin them in place and satin stitch around the edges or is it a must to use interfacing? Since the letters are already cut out how would I add interfacing at this point?
2  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Transparent Nylon thread safe for baby quilt?? on: May 10, 2008 11:06:50 AM
I'm finishing up a baby quilt (to stash for when I have one of my own!!) and I really don't want visible thread for the quilting. I'm doing "in the ditch" quilting but the thread will still show some. Is it safe to use transparent nylon thread?? I don't want to make anything dangerous and not be able to use it!!
3  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / Dry for 7 days?? on: April 11, 2008 09:23:15 AM
I just finished my first (very simple) stencil!! I'm about to heat set it but I just noticed the bottle of textile medium said to heat set then allow to dry for 7 days. Is this really necessary?? It seems a bit extreme to me especially since I'm really eager to wear my new shirt!! Does anyone actually wait 7 days to wear their creations?? I'm willing to wait if it might ruin my shirt..otherwise I wanna wear it tomorrow!!
4  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / How do I do the letters on this??? Edit-Got it to work!! Thanks! on: April 10, 2008 03:55:10 PM
I am completely in love with this pic but for the life of me I can't figure out how to do the letters!! Any help would be greatly appreciated like what part to cut out of how to make bridges!!

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / My very own (albeit wonky) PLEATNESS bag!!! on: March 29, 2008 04:10:50 PM
So after about 2 minutes deliberation I decided to make my very own PLEATNESS bag!! Luckily I already had the fabric and just needed a zipper! So let me tell you a little story about my adventure! Looking over the instructions I didn't think it would be that bad so I started cutting out the pieces....and cutting...and cutting...and...... After an hour I was finally done and in serious need of a nap and some Advil.

After my much needed nap and the resolution of my headache I worked for another hour and this is where I ended up... Not too far..hehehehe

I then decided to put things off till the next day in hope that the little tailor fairies would complete it for me!!

No such luck!! Luckily it only took me another hour and a half the next day to finish it..

Although time consuming this was a realllyyy easy and fun tutorial to follow. My only struggle was with the corners once you sew in the zipper. My first zipper might I add!! So here's the top finished.. The pink zipper was calling my name at JoAnns!

There are a couple little boo boos here and there. Luckily my camera did a pretty cool job of hiding them.

And here's the always needed action shot..

Wow! Those jeans aren't as flattering as I thought. Of course I also had to show off my new tattoo!

And I promised my trusted assistant I would give her some credit!

Now I have some awesome springy, flowered fabric to use on my next one. I plan to tweak a few measurements here and there and make the straps longer next time. Thanks again Applesaregreen http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=178244.0 for sharing this awesome purse with us!
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Any ideas for this fabric?? on: March 27, 2008 11:22:35 AM
Anyone have any ideas for this awesome fabric I've been holding onto forever??? I already have a sewing machine cover or thats what I'd make out of it! I was leaning towards making a purse out of it because I love it sooo much but I thought that would be a little over the top! Any ideas would be appreciated!

7  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Signature Quilt Patterns on: August 10, 2007 03:59:33 PM
I'm **Considering** making my best friend a signature quilt to have the quests t her wedding sign. The reason I'm considering it is the big day is September 22nd so I would have a little more than a month to make a million quilt squares. The second problem being that I can't find a pattern I like. Anyone made a signature quilt or know any good patterns?? I've googled my heart out and can't find anything good!!
8  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Why Can't I Stitch in the Ditch??? on: August 09, 2007 06:22:40 PM
For some reason I cannot figure out how to stitch in the ditch. I try to just follow the seam line and I end up all over the place, in the seam, not in the seam, all across the quilt block...wherever! Is there something I'm just missing?? Angry
