23  Re: Craft for my Significant Other or Another Round 2 - GALLERY! in The Swap Gallery by shayneblate08 on: November 21, 2010 02:22:46 PM
We received yesterday!
My boyfriend was overjoyed. He was so happy when I told him the name of the swap and what it entailed. The whole time I was crafting I would refer to it as the Secret Swap which made him so frustrated  Wink

So anyway, Pics of all the goods!

This totally awesome wolf tote that I'm probably going to be stealing from him

Next this portrait of me (I'm guessing? although the drawing portrays such a pretty girl I know it can' be me.) for his desk. I LOVE that she burned the edges of the drawing. Steve is such a pyro/fire buff and this weekend he was actually helping me burn th edges of the handmade paper for a book I'm making for class, so that fits in perfectly.

This is a super cool antique eagle dreamcatcher thing. Excuse my language but I have no idea what it is but me and Steve love it, it fits very well with our other Native American art

Here is a really cool wooden box with a woodburned eagle that made Steve's face light up when he saw it,plus it was filled with these really good smelling elemental candles. Steve's favorite candle was obviously the Fire candle, and I stole the Earth candle Cheesy

Finally this gorgeous wolf blanket that Steve immediatly scrambled into the bedroom and jumped onto the bed to snuggle under. He's been jealous of my purple fleece blanket for some time and he was perfectly happy to gloat with this blanket. Which is fine because its pretty cute to watch a 6'6" man curl under a blanket and he's so adorable too Wink

Thank you so much jennilocker!

Hope you and your man love your package too!

24  Re: I <3 Autumn Gallery in The Swap Gallery by shayneblate08 on: November 13, 2010 07:44:49 PM
i received on friday, finally got time to go online today...
so happy!! and yes, after i picked it up from the post office, i ran with it to the car, opened it with my keys, and sat there and looked at everything in the parking lot.

I'm in love!!

here's the goodies:

two gorgeous scarves, one crocheted and the other knitted (so jealous of Confuzzle's skills!)

beautiful hand painted sun and moon candle dishes for my private tiny altar. I love these

two wind-blowing-autumn leaves mugs which I have used extensively already... they so remind me of the beauty that is autumn in upstate new york. i mean its beautiful out here in middle of nowhere illinois but i guess i'm a new yorker at heart.

I could not get good pictures of these snowflake barrettes but I love wearing them!
Hopefully confuzzle has pics that do these clips justice. and yes, each one is crocheted to look different, because all snowflakes are unique!!

MMmmmm my favorite I love apple cider and this is delicious stuff!

thank you so much confuzzle!!

25  Re: Greek Mythology Gallery in The Swap Gallery by shayneblate08 on: October 14, 2010 03:42:57 PM
I received my swap package from Onyxnox today! Post office tried to deliver it yesterday but I was gone from 6am till 11PM so I wasn't there to sign for it. Had to wait till after class today but it was soooo worth it because everything is so awesome! As soon as I got back to my car after picking it up I opened it and grinned ear to ear the whole time while looking at everything.

Note: I apologize but the bracelet she sent me is not in these pictures because my boyfriend snatched it and wants to wear it. Why? I have no idea, but I'll get a picture of it later because now I'm at work..., its the same pattern as the earrings I'll show in this post, in a lovely beaded pattern.

Okay, group shot that does not show the earrings because I'm a dummy:

The awesome tee shirt! this image is on the back like it should be:

This amazing pencil roll-- I LOVE it, and Onyxnox included 4 drafting pencils, these are great! I always appreciate these and they're much better than mine because mine are worn down to two inch nubs right now lol The image is so cool and good quality--She printed it on fabric and sewed everything together. I LOVE the fabric and the ribbon is so smooth it just makes me happy when I pull the tab to undo it because it just slides out of the bow lol I know I sound crazy but I've got a big thing about texture.

I gasped loudly when I saw this. A sketchbook cozy!!! I love the image SO much and when you open it up there are LOTs of pockets! See those two bars of the contrast fabric in the center, even those are pockets! I know I'm like hyper about this but I've never had one of these, its so cool! And she even included a sketchbook! How did she know I needed a new one? I just finished my other one two days ago.

Beautiful earrings! The beaded ones (that match the bracelet she sent) and the owls are for Athena but I just happen to LOVE owls (my first swap was the I<3 Owls swap) And I have to say I love this style of hook, they never fall out like fish hook styles.

And finally, my favorite (Sketchbook cozy being the close second), this crocheted floral vine scarf. This is not really related to this swap--I saw this in Onyxnox's posted items, I believe she made it for another swap... but I fell in love with it. I told her I liked it and she was sweet enough to make me one! Its actually two singular vines with flowers that you can wear together or apart. I wore it ALL day today and will be wearing it every day for a while. Have already gotten tons of compliments on it!

Again, thank you SO SO much, Onyxnox, you are a real sweetheart. I was pretty down and stressed out this week, and you really brightened me up! <3<3

26  Re: Are you Ready for Some Football R2 Gallery! in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by shayneblate08 on: October 04, 2010 06:51:44 PM
Hey all.

Sorry it took me so long to take pictures. Life got in the way. Its so hectic and crazy with doctors appointments, 5 demanding college courses, a full time job, etc.

Anyway!
Sorry for some sideways pictures, I realized that after I uploaded them to photobucket... and that took an hour to get them all up there. Slow connections suck. So just be aware that your head will soon be tilted slightly to the right, and to the left, and back to the right. Now do the diddle.
Sorry couldn't resist. I'm done now.

Here's the awesome stuff I got from Dawl. Thank you Dawl!

First, a really cute Dip dish and spreading knife

What could this adorable little bag contain?

A Raiders Key Chain for the BF, a Bears Keychain for me and a Tree pendant for me! I mentioned to Dawl I liked this in her posts, and she made me one! Its perfect because I call my BF Tree and he calls me Shrub. Better than Bush lol

Next we have etched glasses. I have 2 of each! The BF was very happy and immediately poured himself a drink.

Also a Raiders candle and a Bears Candle! I love them!

4 gorgeous coasters that look like they were made out of kitchen/bathroom tile??

Awesome woodburned plaques! The BF is proudly holding up his, he LOVES it.

and I think I love mine more!

and a close up:

Thanks again for everything!

27  Re: No shopping allowed--Using what you have Cook-A-Long? in Recipes and Cooking Tips by shayneblate08 on: September 16, 2010 06:48:06 PM
Life got in the way and wasn't able to even start slow cooker meal but BF promised me I can Saturday, as long as I get homework done will its a-cookin. lol

Brunoise, youre soup sounds sooo delicious! I totally want to try it.
Are you sure all the whiskey went in? Are you sure some of it didn't go into your mouth? That always happens to me when I make spiced poached pears, mostly because I use Triple Sec and a nice tawny port... both usually end up half in the dish and half in me, lol.

But the other night, Boyfriend and I were going to watch some football at the neighbors house, so I decided to make a dip to use up some chips we had that were on the verge of going stale (TBH not sure how they lasted this long in the house, we love chips a little too much)
Had a just a small bit of spaghetti sauce in the fridge so i mixed that into a bowl with some melted whipped cream cheese. I would say the cream cheese was about 3:1 ratio with the sauce. Came out a lovely orange color. Then I microwaved a can of corn, a can of french cut green beans, and a can of great northern beans, just what I had in the pantry (besides canned fruit and other things that would not go well).
For spices I added a healthy amount of chipotle powder and cayenne pepper because me and my boys sure love our spicy foods. Then I added some minced onion, Morton's Nature's Seasoning, a little sea salt, and some Sweet N' Tangy BBQ flavoring. Mixed it all together, heated it up some more and it was a huge hit with the boys. I loved it too, even though I didn't get much, haha.

This is a very shoddy picture but its the only one I thought to get. Didn't have my camera with me so dark cell phone pic will have to do.
I'm sure I could make it again if I bought the ingredients, but hey, that defeats the purpose of an impromptu dip.

I love just making up dishes and not following a recipe.
There's a certain satisfaction from just BSing good food. And then consuming it like a wild animal.

28  Medusa Mask, Perseus' Sword, Hera's Sandle Pendant and Greek Mythology stakes! in Completed Projects by shayneblate08 on: September 13, 2010 07:28:14 PM
A couple things I sent my partner for the Greek Mythology swap... TOTALLY stealing some of her pics Smiley

First a Medusa mask, made out of Papier-mch and paint, mardigras beads, paper, light rock crystals, and brass wire for her nose and eyebrow "piercings"

The first pic is hers, then a pic with my boyfriend modeling it and then a close up pic with me modeling it. Sorry for the crappy cell phone quality of the 2nd two pics, this was before I got my new camera.

Next, my vision of Perseus' Sword
Its a painted toy sword with a fake greek coin on each side. Where its stamped made in china on the other side, I crossed out china and wrote Olympus. because I'm a dork like that.

The other two things I made for her are these ATC's on a stick... cardboard, paint, bits and bobbles, fabric glued to painted chopsticks, I think these would be great for fake flower arrangements, additions to gardens, etc. Have no idea what they'll be used for though... I'd probably put them in my hair because I'm weird. Or in the extra spaces in my toothbrush holder or in a pencil cup... I'm sure she'll find a use for them.

And finally I found one of those little sandal keychains so I decided to paint it as Hera's Golden Sandal, which is a common symbol for her. I'm not listing it on the jewelry board because A., I don't want to make a whole post for it, and B., I didn't know what kind of necklace my partner liked so I just put it on a purple ribbon and sent it like it is. I actually included black cord with findings too... She listed purple and black as her fav colors so I thought I'd include both.

29  My take on the Gibbous Skirt and an in progress altered hoodie in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by shayneblate08 on: August 29, 2010 12:23:49 AM
I too am part of the gibbous addict club, and created this skirt:

Back

And inside out, which I'm totally going to wear it that way too if I can find a slip.

The hoodie that I'm still working on--not covering the whole thing, but am going to do a bit more to it.

30  Altered Forest shirt in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by shayneblate08 on: August 29, 2010 12:12:54 AM
Shapeless plus size shirt becomes cute forest shirt!

Took material from an old lace trimmed cami and added the lace to the collar of this shirt, and made some extra long cuffs because I looooove overly long sleeves. Oh and I took the sides and sleeves in, too.
