1  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 63 ENTRIES / Delicious Girly Accessories on: June 02, 2011 09:40:55 AM
I LOVE the monthly challenges but have been super busy with a newborn. So This month is the first time in a LONG time that I felt I could participate. And yay for me, it's a food one!

I made this cake for my cousin's birthday. She's a girly girl so I thought this idea would be perfect. The purse is devil's food cake with mint buttercream and covered in marshmallow fondant. The shoe and lipstick are gumpaste so it makes everything edible!

2  COOKING / Dessert / Who doesn't like Zebra print and hot pink? on: May 31, 2011 08:25:07 AM
I made this cake for a special girl who graduated high school. It was so much fun to put together. It is a white butter cake with cream cheese and lemon curd filling covered in marshmallow fondant.

3  COOKING / Dessert / Rainbow Rainbow cupcakes on: November 18, 2010 02:30:17 PM
I love to make rainbow cakes so when my daughter asked for a rainbow birthday I was all over it. I love to look at them.

The cake is white cake colored in rainbow colors. The rainbows are made from melting chocolate and the "clouds" are just buttercream.
4  COOKING / Dessert / Disgusting Toilet cake (You've been warned) may not be suitable for work on: November 18, 2010 02:21:49 PM
A friend of mine wanted a poo cake for his birthday. I said I probably couldn't stomach making it but that I would make a toilet. Well, I think it turned out pretty good. For a poo in a toilet cake....

5  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Chick Chik Chik Chicken! on: November 03, 2010 06:16:30 PM
I saw a version of this costume on the Martha Stewart website last year and thought it was cute but already had a costume made for my daughter. So I made it this year!
I sewed a white body suit and attatched feather boas all over it. Feathers have been everywhere in my house for weeks now! I wanted to make the costume as warm as possible (seeing as we got snow a few days before Halloween, yuck) I then sewed a hat with earflaps and attached more feathers and a stuffed felt comb. I bought the tights and made the feet from two dish gloves with shoes inside. I made the beak from cardboard covered in felt so it was comfy and warm. She loved running around the house shouting, "Bok Bok Bok!"
6  COOKING / Dessert / Cakeaholic on: September 13, 2010 10:31:14 AM
I used to make all sorts of crafty things but lately I have been obsessed with cake. The best part is that people want me to make them for them so I don't have to have it sitting around the house calling my name!
I have seen quite a few versions of teapots online and thought i'd try my hand at it. It was a little tricky to drape the fondant over az sphere but I think i'm getting better.
Sweet little turtle for a little girl turning one.

A little boy specifically wanted this exactly how it is. I'm not usually a fan of using non edible things on my cake but it was his party!
7  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Aristocat Hat on: May 26, 2010 07:51:50 AM
I made this sweet kitty hat for my daughter and I am so happy that I finished it. I am so bad at starting something and then never finishing it. I got the pattern from ravelry.

8  COOKING / Dessert / Cupcake bouquet and a few others on: April 24, 2010 01:15:05 PM
I have been doing so many cakes lately and am really learning alot. I made this cupcake bouquet yesterday for my Mom's 60th. It turned out pretty good but I learned that in order to make the cupcakes stay on better in the future I need a denser cake.

I made a topsy turvey cake for a friends birthday. Everything was going perfectly until the last minute when it decided to not want to stay upright. So I tore off all the fondant and used the cake to make these for her instead.
A burger cake I made for some friends of the family.
9  COOKING / Dessert / Vintage Snow Machine Cake on: April 13, 2010 12:35:20 PM
A friend asked me to make a cake replica of her husbands vintage Mercury Snow machine. I don't have a ton of 3D cake making experience but I love the challenge. I deliver it tomorrow and I hope everyone likes it!

Oh yeah, it is brown sugar pound cake carved and covered with classic buttercream and marshmallow fondant. Everything is edible except the handle bars which is wire covered in fondant.
10  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Blah to Black and white (lots of pictures) on: April 08, 2010 03:31:05 PM
We recently moved into a great house that in two years will be 100. So needless to say it has lots of pros and lots of things that need fixing up. Our bedroom was all wallpaper and wood board so I painted up the wood and peeled off the paper. There was 7 layers of ancient paper and 3 borders!
I was going to use one of those wall sticker things for a head board but when I went to order it they were unavailable! So I painted it on instead.
I cut up a dictionary and used wallpaper adhesive to paper one wall. I know some people are probably cringing but we like it!
I am starting to do some arylic paintings and have a few hanging on one wall with plans for more. I still haven't done anything with the built in cabinets yet but I am thinking that just white might be best. Any ideas?

Another after of the mural.

Wall with my paintings and the same old built in. There is also a great antique chair but getting it in the picture was a pain.
My paintings.
