1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Best ever gift (A little pic heavy) on: November 23, 2007 01:32:16 PM
I just received a birthday gift from my best friend in the whole world.
She's so crafty and artistic... so I just had to brag. (Mods, I looked for a "Birthday" forum under "Occasions", but I didn't see one. If this thread needs to be moved, please feel free to do so.)
Okay, here we go.... It all came in this adorable box.

And for the beauty of it all....

A pic of us and the good ole' days

Then the front of the card.... then inside...

"Happy Day" isn't a mistake. We've said it for years.
On the front of the flower seeds it says "For anxiety". She know's how hard of a time I'm going through right now, and her gift was so thoughtful and meaningful that it made me cry.
So... I had to show off her craftiness, and the fact that I have the best friend in the entire world.  Grin
2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / The Recycled Car on: October 29, 2007 08:29:35 AM
I had to help my 7 year old son make a model vehicle for cub scouts.
After searching through the various models at the store, and having no time to complete one of these monsterous feats, I came up with this!
Made completley of cardboard, duct tape, packing tape and paper clips (for the axles).

It has bucket seats, with an armrest in the center, seatbelts, an actual dash board console with speedometer, steering wheen and radio, doors that open, and, my son's idea, afterburners.

Made in 2 hours with no planning whatsoever. We had a great time making this.
3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / My kind of people!!! on: May 08, 2007 05:34:58 PM
At last, I have found my kind of people! I am new to craftster, and I've been looking around amazed at how wonderfully talented and creative everyone is, but desperatley hoping no one would find out my little secret. I am a horrible clutz! Looking on this board, I have read so many things that have happened to me.
My fave is when I was walking from my car to the craft store, someone had spit a peach pit on the ground. You know, standard, nickel sized peach pit. Of course, that's the one spot on the entire 6 foot wide sidewalk that I choose to step on. I end up twisting my foot, losing my balance, flying through the air, landing in the street, on my hands and knees. I had to stay home all week with ice/heat on my kneecap. It got huge!

Also, I'm the only person I know who can end up cutting themselves on an industrial sized paper cutter, when the blade is down and locked. Roll Eyes Yeah, I've come to terms with my clutziness....
4  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Rotary telephone on: May 01, 2007 10:35:34 AM
Hi, I'm Jessica! Nice to meet you!
I just got back from my local thrift store, and was able to find a rotary telephone that works great. The problem is, the previous owner put stickers all over it, and not the awesome kind - the kind with carrier codes ( like 10-10-### to dial long distance) and they are ugly, some have peeled off, leaving behind the sticky residue.
The phone works great, and I really want to make it rock. I was thinking of spray paint, but I'll have to look at the casing to see how hard disassembly will be. Since the rotary dial is clear, I was thinking of decoupaging a picture on the underside of it and trimming to fit.
I'm not sure about these ideas though. Has anyone revamped one of these? Do you guys have any ideas that would be helpful? Thanks in advance! (I'll make sure to post pics after I'm done!)
