11  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Journaling My Past on: June 09, 2013 04:35:44 PM
I seem to NEVER run out of things to journal about --- if only I had the time!
I love creating images that remind me of the good times growing up...for me that was a LONG time ago!  Shocked
I am a part of the hippie-trippy-sixties generation (I've been on the planet 63 years now!).

One of my favorite two-page journal spreads is the one I call "Talkin' 'Bout My Generation". Using two rubber stamps that I hand-carved to make a powerful statement -- Bob Dylan, and Give Up War For Lent I did my best to capture the energy of the times. Vibrant colors splashed on spontaneously helped create the tone.

I would love to see what you do that expresses a special time in your life -- how does your art journaling tell a story?

I use old book covers, art board and mat board. Love your journals and the stitching! I need to teach myself how to do that.

Thanks for sharing.

Smmarrt, thanks!
I used those same materials when I first started learning to make the journals..then realized *I* needed something a bit more sturdy. Although I admit I've used recycled FedEx boxes for quick ones as well (for my personal use). The stitching is super easy -- I recommend using curved needles to make it even easier.

The stitches are amazing, brilliant idea to leave them exposed!

Aliped - thank you! I do my best to have the colors of the stitches blend well with the cover art and signature dividers -- just another artistic touch  Grin

Beautiful!

Thank you, Helcura -- I just LOVE the added creative benefit of an exposed spine...so simple and yet so effective!

i use canvas boards too. so im no help there but just waned to chime in

jennythor - thanks, of course you are of help...it's worthwhile to know what people are using!  Grin
Do you design directly ON the canvas, or do you create something and then adhere it to the canvas to create your cover?

I LOVE the creative process and like to learn from others!
