11  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / White Envelope on: November 25, 2008 06:32:19 AM
I just came across this site today. I think it's something more people should do.  The tradition of the "white envelope" is simple but incredibly powerful. In lieu of a material gift at any occasion, do something for someone else in honor of the recipient. Write up what you did, put it in a white envelope, and give it to the recipient as their gift.

http://www.whiteenvelopeproject.org/what.html

This would make a great gift but I think many craftsters out there could make the envelope if they so choose to do so, out certain types of paper or make something to hold the envelope on if they don't have a tree. Just thought I'd share this.
12  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Something we add to our mashed potatoes on: November 21, 2008 04:20:55 PM
hmmm. I wonder if this would liven up "mashed potatoes" out of a bag.

It might.  I suppose it's one of those 'you never know unless you try' kind of things. Good luck if you do it.
13  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Something we add to our mashed potatoes on: November 14, 2008 03:57:03 PM
I don't know how many people do this or even make their mashed potatoes homemade these days, but here's a little extra ingredient that makes them oh so good.  Eggs!

I know simple right. When you are boiling the potatoes then hardboil the eggs at the same time.  When it's bubbling then cool it off with cool water, Peel the eggshell off. Chop them up into small sizes and then add them to the potatoes when you mix them together on a fairly high speed.  It gives it an even better taste and I've yet to find anyone else who does this.  I think it's suppose to be some secret family recipe but come on its just eggs.  I think everyone should enjoy the great food that I get treated too, especially at Thanksgiving.

EDIT: She also adds a little bit of milk and some butter but I think thats more to taste.

Enjoy! Any questions let me know.  I don't explain very well.
14  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: Easy, Cheap, Creative, Unique Gift Idea: The Painted Plunger!!! on: November 14, 2008 03:47:20 PM
I think its a great idea.  It seems our plunger fades away into the background and would be easier to see for an emergencies.  I would add something to the bottom so the toiler paper doesn't touch.  Of course I have six animals who would rip up the toiler paper if we let it out anyway, so what do I know?  Fantastic job.
15  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Thanksgiving / Re: This year's Thanksgiving Contribution on: November 09, 2008 04:10:42 PM
This is a great idea.  I going to try and get my mom to make some!
16  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Winnie the Pooh Blanket (a bit image heavy) on: October 24, 2008 09:41:35 AM
The other gift I made for my cousins baby shower was this Winnie the Pooh blanket.

I didn't have to quilt it but I thought adding a little embroidery and cross stitch here and there would give it some pizazz.

I hope she likes it and thanks for looking!

I made a journal last year for a friend like this.  I called it Laugh more often.  I've seen people cut out a circle and mod podge it onto the top of the lid.  Maybe something like that. Maybe quilt a cozy and embroider the name onto that.
18  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Re: Stenciled Onesies for my cousin's baby on: October 09, 2008 03:00:45 PM
Very cute!  Any chance that robot onesie was inspired by Questionable Content?  Just curious. Tongue

It wasn't. Actually I seen it on a stencil website and I thought it looked cute.  I've never heard of it.
19  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Stenciled Onesies for my cousin's baby on: October 09, 2008 06:55:30 AM
My cousin is having her first baby (a boy!) and I wanted to make her a few items for the baby shower.  Along with a baby blanket that isn't done yet, I made her some stenciled onesies.

Turtle Onesie

Robot Onesie

Dino Onesie

Car Onesie

I'm not a supporter of Obama or McCain but this by far is the most amazing thing I've seen.  You did an amazing job.  It's too bad Obama himself couldn't see it I bet he'd love it too.
