1  Re: ORGANIZING: Granny-A-Day SEPT - starting 9/1 in Crochetalongs by sundaybrunch on: September 02, 2010 09:25:52 AM
I haven't posted on Craftster in ages, but I've been happily lurking along with Granny-A-Day for the last few months! I love seeing the progress on everyone's projects. I was waiting to post until I found my camera cord and lo and behold, it finally turned up!

I don't do anywhere near a granny a day... one a week if I'm lucky. Once I finish this project I may try to do one a day with smaller squares. I actually have 8 now. It's a stashbusting project and I was hoping to have enough for an Inga bag, but I'm almost out of green! I think I might have enough to complete the squares, if I do the joining and handles in a different colour. Otherwise I'll either make a smaller bag than planned, or do half the squares in a different colour scheme. I'll have to see what's in my stash. I am determined not to spend any money on this project!

2  Scarfy goodness (image happy) in Felting: Completed Projects by sundaybrunch on: September 17, 2009 11:34:36 AM
It's been a long time since I posted here! Thought I'd share some scarflettes I've been making lately. I've been obsessed with wet felting the past month. I dyed the wool for these myself too.

"Undersea" - merino wool

"Caterpillar" - merino wool

"Jenny Wren" merino wool (I bought this batch of wool pre-dyed)

"Sunset Ruffles" merino and shetland, pin and scarf set - I'm not happy with this photo, it really doesn't do the piece justice

"Midnight Blue" BFL - I added embroidery to this one and I really like it!

Thanks for looking!

3  Re: Leap Year Fiber Friday 2/29/08 in Spinning: Completed Projects by sundaybrunch on: February 29, 2008 08:26:57 AM
I've been lurking on Fiber Friday for a long time, admiring everyone's beautiful yarns, and finally have the courage to post my own! I'm pretty new to spinning and I've made some bumpy singles before this, but these are my first plied and first full skeins. All spun on drop spindle.

The first: acid-dyed Romney wool. I hated the roving after I dyed it, but decided to spin it anyway for practice. I like the way it spun up after all, so I call it "serendipity". It's 100 g, I didn't measure it. It varies between DK and bulky weight.

The second: I had no idea that cotton was really really hard to spin, so I bought some pre-dyed at my LYS - it was a nightmare. I couldn't draft it at all. Finally I just split the roving (or whatever you call it - still unsure of the terminology) into thin strips and spun it without drafting at all. I then plied it with gold thread and added some red seed beads in (though you can't see them in the pic). I like the way it finally turned out but NO MORE COTTON. Unweighed and measured, varies from lace weight to super extra bulky! ugggh. "Embers"

The third and most recent: Kool Aid dyed Lincoln wool, 115 yards and 100 g. DK to worsted weight. This one is the most even I've spun yet. The colours came out way brighter than I was expecting!

4  Needle felted ball earrings in Felting: Completed Projects by sundaybrunch on: May 22, 2007 02:29:35 PM
My first picture post!

Here are two pairs of earrings I made by needle felting. They sort of remind me of little ice cream scoops - mint chocolate chip and strawberry swirl  Smiley

I love how they're big and bobbly, but really light.
