1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Twinkle's Big City Knits: 30 Chunky-Chic Designs on: July 27, 2007 07:45:25 AM
hey all. i know it's been a while since anyone posted in this thread, but i was wondering if any of my fellow big-busties have had a chance to knit up some stuff from this book yet? the KAL thread has lots of FO's posted, but most of the gals over there look pretty skinny minnie so it's not really a good indicator of how these projects translate to fuller frames. Sad especially in the bust area....has anyone with a c cup or bigger tackled one of these chunky knits yet?

I'm a larger busted girl myself but have bought the yarn for two projects in this book and hope to do more.

If you look on the Twinkle website on the page about 'Big City Knits' http://www.twinklebywenlan.com/twinkle.html and click on 'View Submissions' you can see pictures that knitters have sent in of themselves wearing the designs. I think there is a range of different sized women in the pictures and I'm inspired by that. I don't think this book is just for a select few...

Drats! Does anyone have an idiot's guide to whipstitching the facing together? I'm confused about how to do it with live stitches on the needle.

Couldn't I bind off and then stitch the seam?  Huh

I put my live stitches onto waste yarn before I did the whipstitching - you might find the whipstitching instructions in the pattern easier to follow if you do this.

You could bind off and then sew but you might find you have a slightly bumpy seam  - but you might decide that you don't mind that.
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: When is the new Vogue Knitting out? on: July 10, 2007 06:58:58 AM
I think the Fall 2007 issue of Vogue Knitting is out on August 7th - if I'm remembering the ad in the last issue correctly...

Your tunic looks great!

It's inspiring me to keep going with mine - am impatient to see how it turns out.

The pattern's from 'Twinkle's Big City Knits' by Wenlan Chia. It's a fantastic book!

Another 'to do' to add to my list...

I loved this pattern when I first saw it in IW but got distracted by other WIPs.

But am really encouraged to start soon by seeing everyone's progress photos!

Your tunic looks great!

Good to know that the summer Twinkle knits can be converted into winter ones if desired!

I have the latest issue and I can recommend it - definitely inspiring and full of vibrant colours.

I'm only an 'amateur' rather than a professional but I do enjoy it.
