1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / adorable green hat on my adorable nephew on: February 11, 2006 06:22:37 PM
maybe the only thing to draw me out of lurking? a recent photo of my two-year-old nephew wearing the hat I knitted him for xmas. apparently he won't leave the house without his hat! the yarn is alchemy lickety split, and it was a joy to work with (if only it weren't so darn expensive....)
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Creative Spring/Summer Knitters! on: April 27, 2005 08:11:54 AM
The pictures that have posted recently to the completed projects board have been quite inspiring to me. I'm a hat/scarf/blanket/longsleeves/socks knitter - i.e. winter-appropriate fashion only - and all the shorty sweaters, shrugs, wraps, and shawls that you springtime creatives have been posting have really encouraged me to start knitting "out of the box" - not to mention things like cat beds and adorable stuffed animals.

I am just finishing my first knitted bag, and I'm eyeing a couple of the minisweater patterns folks have been posting as a good foray into the world of warm-weather knitwear. It really does seem like the warm weather requires more creativity w/r/t choosing projects, and it's been quite eye-opening thus far. Thanks and huzzah!
3  New York / New York: NYC and Long Island / sewing maching repair in NYC? on: April 23, 2005 05:15:31 PM
hey y'all,
I need to get the old gal adjusted, and I just don't know where to take her. I live in Brooklyn (off the L), but work at 26th and 6th, so anywhere thereabouts would be ideal....but anywhere works, too, because I want to start sewing some new summer stuff and I haven't been able to figure out where to repair. Help is SO appreciated!!
4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / one-skein knit/crochet swap on: February 09, 2005 07:49:30 PM
I was thinking of a swap in which all items were knitted (or crocheted) out of one skein. The only restriction I would want to add is no hats or scarves - to keep everyone creative! "One skein," of course, can mean a lot of different things, depending on the type of yarn being used, but that will be part of the fun, I think. Let me know if this seems like a good idea to you. I'm in the middle of a huge knitting project (a sampler blanket), and would love to make something fun and small as an in-betweener!
