1  Tshirt Blanket in Quilting: Completed Projects by endlessly_intricate on: August 29, 2012 10:53:18 PM
I had wanted to make a tshirt blanket for the longest time.  I'd saved a lot of my band shirts throughout junior high and high school in hopes of doing so one day.  This summer I finally finished it!   Grin

I didn't really know what I was doing; pretty much just winged the entire thing.  I cut out and hemmed the edges of each shirt then sewed them all together, and sewed a sheet on the back.

I began cutting them out in January 2011-

Nearly finished...

And, the shirt that started it all... my grandma bought it for me a few days before I started 8th grade in 2001.

(Sorry if it's sideways, Photobucket wasn't agreeing with me)

I ended up breaking a needle in my thumbnail when I was doing the very last stitches.  o.0  It's definitely not perfect, but it was worth it. It's very comfortable and packed with memories. I'm so glad to have finally finished it!

*There are also two shirts that I received in Craftster swaps years ago in my blanket.  Grin

I suffered from artist block for a few years, but, in January, I finally decided to buy a new sketchbook and a couple packages of Bic Mark-It's.  My sketchbook is now almost full.

4  Recycled Paper Christmas Tree *Lots of Pictures!* in Winter Holidays by endlessly_intricate on: December 15, 2011 09:46:28 AM

Last year I broke up with my boyfriend of five years during the first week of December.  While it was a good decision for me, it left me feeling a bit out of sorts and I ended up throwing away every Christmas decoration I had two weeks before the holiday.  This year I realized that I was in need of a tree.  I was about to buy one, but whilst watching Charlie Brown's Christmas special I got an idea: why not make a dinky little tree myself?!  So, I did.

I used a bunch of rolled up magazine 'rods' that I had put together over the summer when I was attempting to make a recycled paper blind.  I ended up giving up on it because it was too heavy and I got bored with the project.
What the tree was born from:

A few Christmas movies later.  I had a Christmas tree made entirely of reused magazine paper and glue.  LOTS of glue.  Grin

For the topper I made an origami paper star out of about 14 pages of a Zelda Twilight Princess strategy guide.

It was pretty frustrating at times because the weight was too heavy up top and I didn't plan the structure well enough initially.  I used little one inch pieces of the rods as supports.  Also, help from my cat Nico jumping over it and batting at the branches didn't help much.  Grin  However, after a lot of hot glue and trimming it's very stable.

Merry Christmas!

On the back:
I'm only 20, but I can hear my biological clock ticking louder each day.  I know some women choose to be single mothers, but that's not what I want.  I want children who know they were brought into this world [by parents] who love and wanted them, not by one person who loves them & wanted them and another who needed to make a quick buck.

10  Bright Eyes Swap? in New Swap Theme Ideas by endlessly_intricate on: January 20, 2011 04:04:17 PM

Is there anyone out there who would be interested in a Bright Eyes swap? While I haven't kept up with Conor very well in recent years, Bright Eyes' new (final?  Cry) album is scheduled to be released next month... so a swap seemed fitting.
