1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Romantic Law Enforcement Puns- HELP! on: July 12, 2007 07:38:12 AM
Ok you creative word play/pun types... I need your help. I want to embroider a set of pillow cases for my partner, who will be graduating from the police academy to be a probation officer in a few weeks. I want to just embroidery the ends with say something like "Prisoner of Love" or something with handcuffs on one and then the other I need help with. I can't come up with anything!!! The best I came up with is "Officer of My Heart" but I think that's lame and doesn't make much sense. Any ideas for a romantic law enforcement related pillow case set?? I'm stumped! Don't hesitate being corny.. really.

Thanks!
2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / My split stitch sucks on: June 28, 2007 07:13:21 AM
Ok I LOVE the look of the split stitch... but mine looks really crappy. First, when coming through the split, it gets all stuck or it will look entirely lop sided once I pull through. I've seen so many lovely split stitches on here and I'm wondering what in the world I'm doing wrong. Any tips?

Thanks!
3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / First Embroidery- Pin up Girl! on: May 28, 2007 04:35:58 PM
Ok so it's a day of firsts... already posted my recent first Xstitch. Now here is my first attempt at embroidery. I had a little trouble getting my backstitches even (any suggestions or tips?). Please give me any pointers or areas where I can improve. Smiley

4  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / First Cross Stitch Project! on: May 28, 2007 10:23:38 AM
Hey everyone... Well, I've been trying all sorts of crafts lately and here are the results of my first xstitch. Any suggestions are welcomed. Also, is the backstitch supposed to split stitches (see the chicken for example)? I also just taught myself embroidery and am almost done with that as well (will post soon).

Also, please excuse the creases and wrinkles... my iron is out of commission. Sad

5  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Punch Needles! on: May 24, 2007 05:31:28 AM
Hello all,

Punch needles is one of my more favorite crafts (there is something very therapeutic about it) but I haven't done alot of it. Mostly because of this....

When I first started punching, I had a very nice punch needle. I believe it was an Igolochkoy but it was a single strand needle and it did everything perfect for me, although things did take me a bit of time to do fills. (by the way, I will soon be posting some of my work)

Then I ended up losing it (*gasp*). Well I had to make something for an upcoming friend's birthday so I went to Michael's and bought some 2 or 3 strand cheapy punch needle.

I got about 3/4ths of the way through on the birthday piece and realized that I hated it. The outlines weren't really that tight and it was way lumpy all over so I scrapped it Sad

I am wondering: Is it because I have this cheapy cheapy needle or is it just one of the results of the higher stand needles? If it's due to the needle quality, any recommendations on brands?

Thanks!!!!
