21  Re: Measuring Tape Cozy made from felt in Completed Projects by daina on: October 13, 2008 04:38:34 AM
OK, so I'm a total addict. I don't even know where this one is going. I mean, I really don't need three different tape measures of my own, right?

This was supposed to be a flower, but doesn't really look like one. But I really like the colors. i used a covered button (made with Amy butler scraps. I had never done covered buttons before and I found some kits that the DH had bought years ago and went to town:) I again put the retract button on the bottom, but mostly because the covered button is kinda fat...I also got so excited about putting it together that I didn't put anything at all on the bottom of the cozy. Oh well, it's not like I won't be making more:)           I did the lazy daisy stitch on the side again. just cause I think it's so much fun! My french knots are almost perfect now:) I used white ribbon and a white button because I didn't have anything closer to the colors to work with. But I think it looks good. Oh and TONS of fray check!!!!
Thanks for looking!!

ta da!!!!!!!! Warning very pic OBESE!!I couldn't stop myself:)

Received from our wondrous organizer today! She's pretty awesome! We had a great time swapping and Both my son and I are already enjoying our loot:)
First, the box just after I opened, everythings so nice and tidy:

Here's everything together, So beautiful.(minus the AAARRRR washcloth, Michael wouldn't give up ARRRRR yet)
My dishcloths
She sent the AAARRRRR (for Michael) I had been too scared to try this one! and the gratuitous shot of the boy (excuse the green stuff in his mouth. I had to bribe him with apple for him to let me take his picture)
The Cabled OWL Another I have been to scared to try, I can't do cables yet...And I LOVE OWLS
And her Almond Back Loop. Her crochet skills really are quite good, no matter what she tells you:)
The actual color of yellow is close to the one in the picture of all the washcloths. So bright and cheery and needed since it's been raining for the past week straight:)
And the lovely Gnome wristwarmers. Gizmonic needlefelts and sh put these wonderful little guys o some nice snugly fleece. So comfy!! I love that variegated thread used Giz!!!Not to mention the sheer awesomeness of the gnomes!!
She also sent this cute little Wee Garden Gnome and a pack of magical unicorn bandaids for my crafty emergencies and injuries (while making one of giz's gifts I had a pretty bad accident with a pair of very sharp scissors) It says that the magical unicorns have magical healing powers:)The back of the card says "Void where prohibited. Healing Poer of Unicorns may not be available in Texas and Utah". Soooooooo Cute!!!!!!

This is the bottom

I did put the button on the bottom underneath the leaf (just the leaf) I think that makes the ladybug sit a little better, I can def see myself switching between the two though:)

The buttons I received from a personal swap with the dear monkeythumb. I've been sitting on them for three months, trying to figure out what to do with these three special buttons. Then I thought of this. My vision was better than the final result, but I think this one stitched up easier now that I know what I'm doing and I do love the lady (bug that is:)

It's still wet from all the fray check and somehow I broke three needles sewing the button onto the actual tape. But I didn't cut or poke myself at all this time. These are quite addictive, I'm going to start my presents tomorrow. Hands hurt right now, but I'm so happy with it. I didn't photo the side, but I embroidered "leaves" on the side, but I used some more practice stitches, so those don't look all that pretty.

Boy I sure am long winded:)
Enjoy, and obviously any compliments, complaints or critiques are appreciated:)

First, give credit where credit is due: Thanks to Graced for the wonderful Tute here http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=231569.0
Thanks also to monkeythumb for listening to my confusion and giving me advice.

I finished my first one. This one will be kept by me, since it's horribly ugly and I got blood on it. But I did this one just to see if I could and I can. I'll be making about six of these as christmas gifts this year, so I'm glad it woked out. Go easy on me....

Any idea what I'm doing wrong with the button pull, it looks messier than it should. I know the stiching is messy too, and I'm working on that.

Thanks for any suggestions!!

26  Another Andrea Zuill Patterm. Thanks!! in Needlework: Completed Projects by daina on: September 28, 2008 08:55:48 PM
I did this unicorn from one of Andreas free patterns. They really are a lot of  fun to work with!
I put it on a dark pink/purple tee for a little girl (she turns 4 on november). I used mostly cotton pearl floss and I used water soluble solvey. Mostly back stith and stem stitch but there is also some split stitch and satin stitch...I think it turned out pretty good. Any suggestions on how I could make it better (since I still have a little time?)
The whole thing

Thanks! Let me know if you have any suggestions:)

Teaser for Gizmonic. Sorry blurry and a shadow. My camera hates me.

And another.

I could only get decent teasers of the two things, but way more will be in the package. I need to hurry up and send so I can stop...

28  Clover Bird Embroidery in Needlework: Completed Projects by daina on: September 22, 2008 09:50:41 AM
Hi all. I just sewed this applique onto a pice of courdoroy. Eventually, maybe even today, it will be the outside of a purse. I love these birds and trees from an aunt martha pattern and I needed a new fall bag, so here is the beginning. I'm a little addicted to embroidery right now...

It's not as wonky as it looks in the pic, it is wonky, but not as wonky Wink

On of the cute little birds.

Thanks all for looking!

29  Re: The Great Knit Cloth-along of 2008 in Knitalongs by daina on: September 21, 2008 12:18:07 PM
OK. So. Some background. I'm an insomniac. Pretty bad. So I take prescription sleep meds, only on the weekends when the hubby can wake up with the kid if needed. I was working on this on one of those nights. Words of wisdom: do NOT knit after you have taken a sleeping pill. You will mess up!!!
OK. Anyway... I finished it, but you will notice the middle. I messed up just a little while after I said I had conquered the thing. OH Well. It was just for me anyway and it was the first time I had knit in six months and it still looks pretty. I don't think that anyone who didn't knit would be able to tell, but I can. Meanwhile, I'm working on one for the dishcloth swap that is not a dw but is coming along quite wonderfully Grin
Here's the DW. I'll do another one after I'm finished with the swap. I WILL get it perfect!!!!!!

Thanks for looking. It is a lot of fun!!!!!

Sorry, forgot about the pics!

Here's how far I've gotten. Which is further than I had gotten before I frogged it, and it looks better in person. I'm really bad at taking these pics though

Here's a close-up

I'm really happy with how it's coming along! Thanks for the support!!!!
