1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Frida Movie dress patterns? Pic heavy on: December 25, 2013 05:09:36 PM
Hi all! Hope you're all having a happy holiday!

I've been watching Frida over and over and have fallen in love with two dresses in particular that Frida (Salma Hayek) wears.  One's blue with half sleeves, a square neck, and buttons up the back.  The other is white with puffed sleeves, a square neck and buttons up the back.  I took some screenshots but they unfortunately aren't of the highest quality.

If anyone knows of a pattern or tutorial that could help me recreate these dresses could you point me in the right direction? Thanks!

3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / A-line Simplicity 5157-alike? on: March 28, 2010 10:18:34 PM
My grandma gave me this sewing pattern from when she was my age, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6241485346&rvr_id=&crlp=1_263602_263622&UA=WXI7&GUID=a856391e1270a0e202133a73ffefcc31&itemid=6241485346&ff4=263602_263622  Simplicity 5157, sadly however, she was smaller than me Cry and I've fallen in love with the dress, does anyone know how to upsize a pattern or know of another pattern that is almost identical?  Help would be much appreciated
4  COOKING / Dessert / Cream filling? on: June 23, 2009 08:31:35 PM
Ok, you know how those cakes you get at grocery store, the big ones used for graduations/parties?  The chocolate ones sometimes have this delectable, delish vanilla creme filling, and I was wondering if anyone knew a recipe for it.  Sorry if it's not enough information for you
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / pattern matching? on: May 23, 2009 08:19:37 AM
Do any of you know of a pattern that kind of looks like this:

Well, maybe with less of a ruched/gathered neckline, a more modest one

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / All seasoned sewers, I require Oilcloth assistance!! on: May 23, 2009 07:44:14 AM

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Socks? on: May 05, 2009 07:27:47 PM
two of my friends LOVE to wear those fluffy socks(the ones that look kinda like they're made out of chenelle [sp?])So I want to make them both a pair, does anyone know of a simple pattern to make socks?  BTW it'll be my first time making socks so any pointers would be useful.  I only have size 10/6 mm DPNs
8  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / stewardess scarf??--HELP!! on: April 26, 2009 06:50:29 PM
my uncle's getting married (Grin) and my aunt wanted me to make her a scarf "like how they would wear in the fifties" to go with her dress.  She was visualizing one like the one this,  but the pattern is no longer there!!!   Can anyone give me some pointers on how this was structured? Huh
9  COOKING / Dessert / merengue cookie help? on: August 14, 2008 08:05:24 PM
Ok, so ive made merengues twice so far, and instead of being like the nice fluffy ones you get at the store, they come out flat.   Undecided  I think it seems to have something to do with the sugar because i beat the egg whites (so violent  Wink) untill they for stiff peaks as instructed and add sugar as instructed but the sugar seems to make the egg whites kinda soupy, ergo making them runny and not light and structured.  So is there any way to keep this from happening? BTW, i've used two different recipies, so it's not the recipie thats the problem.
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / casting on double knitting? on: August 04, 2008 12:32:47 PM
