21  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Computer-challenged crafter destroys old laptop that gave her so much grief... on: December 18, 2008 11:22:51 PM

...and comes up with earrings for her computer-genious best friend!
I unscrewed, pried, and tore up my beyond-repair laptop from college, took a  moment to appreciate the amazingly confusing intricacy of the hardware, and proceded to hack it up into bits appropriate for jewelry. I used jewelry pliers to cut some hardware...stuff... into squares, only it was really tough to break apart, so I had to sand the sides to make them even and smooth. Then a quick coat of resin, some simply earring work, and viola! Awesome Christmas present! I'm so proud. Cheers!  Grin
~Jaime
PS: I took the rest of the computer bits and pieces to my local recycling center for proper disposal.
PS Again: Oh yeah... Happy Holidays!

Are you talking about the village in NYC? I've been to that parade so many years in a row and so many people have dressed as penises, but I have yet to see a single vagina. Love it. And I agree, it looks great without hair, lol.  Grin

30  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Sherbert Baby Set on: October 27, 2008 06:48:18 AM
These are absolutely GORGEOUS! I love the swirl pattern on the hat! And I think a sherbert rainbow is just fine. My friend is expecting a baby and I'm thinking of making a starghan for her.
Here's a link to the pattern, I liked it so much I had to search for it:
http://yarn-diva.blogspot.com/2006/03/free-star-shaped-afghan-pattern.html
And a craftster post with some helpful info: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=250109.0
There's lots more posts on craftster if you search for starghan.
Whomever gets your set is very lucky! Grin
