51  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Why make one Owl Art when you can make mooooooore on: March 06, 2012 01:29:58 PM
I have a wee problem with making one thing when I find something I like to make.....
The main part of the owls was drawn out by me on my computer and printed out on pages from A Complete Guide to Heraldry by A.C. Fox Davies.
I used ink pencils, tissue paper, and origami paper to add character to it making this a one of a kind piece.

52  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Miranda the Mermaid Art Doll on: February 14, 2012 01:40:50 PM
Miranda is original art doll made with my own pattern. She is a one of a kind doll made from cloth and is both machine and hand stitched.
Her face is hand painted with watercolor pencils, ink pencils and acrylic paints.
Her hair is made of mohair blend yarn in turquoise embellished with glass beads, strands of metallic pink, metallic rainbow thread and silver strands.
Around her neck she wears a silver colored corded necklace with a real sea shell hanging from it.
She stands at 18 inches.

53  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Mini Dressform Art... Part 2 with a video tut on: February 11, 2012 06:50:39 PM
The first bigger one I made was an experiment. I loved how it turned out so I wanted to make another....and I could find the right doll! Anywhere! So I made a video tut with a small "child' doll. This project definitely needs a doll with some curves!

57  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: Dios de los Muertos One Of A Kind Mixed Media Wall Art on: February 07, 2012 10:20:03 PM
Thank you so much!
58  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Dios de los Muertos One Of A Kind Mixed Media Wall Art on: February 05, 2012 02:07:18 PM
The work starts on an 8X10 canvas. I poured the plaster mask base then embellished it with paint and clay. The petals around the eyes are all raised and made from polymer clay. Each rose is hand sculpted in clay and painted.
She wears a black veil made of lace with a spider keeping it all in place.
There are small crosses and other embellishments on the canvas, including a crackle finish. These are not too bold that way it doesnt take away from the mask inteslf.
It hangs from a piece of black ribbon that is safely secured on the back.
