So I bought this bird house awhile ago and couldn't find inspiration to paint it. The other day my daughter and I were watching "Corpse Bride" and then it came to me. Tim Burton style. I aged the wood by beating it up with my carver then applied 2 different colors of gray, painted the accent on the back then grabbed my polymer clay stash. The door, the dead black rose bush, the man eating bush, the skeleton arm, tombstone, and the crow are all polymer. The shingles were done be running carstock through a shredder then clipping them and gluing. It's sealed with poly even though it will never go outside. I'm thinking of attaching a nighlight fixture inside.
Here's attempt number 2. I have been wanting to do an elephant so I went through some images on the internet trying to find a baby elephant picture. Amazing I know what an elephant looks like but still needed a pic. Anyway he's made all free hand with "Elephant Grey" clay. I'm starting a whole jungle theme now, I'm hooked. Hope you like!
You can see he has that little elephant hair on his head! My inspiration
I've been wanting to put a bulletin board in my craft room. I figured a simple trip to Lowe's will fix it. After wandering the aisles I ended up in the plumbing department and I found this there. I thing it has something to do with ventilation? Perfect size and a ridged top to support a way to hang it. Kids and I cut out some video game magazines to make the magnets. I just grabbed some extra self adhesive linoleum tile. Stuck it on and glued a magnet to the back. A lot of explanation for a really easy project.
I love sewing purses but I was running out of room to store them in. So I decided to find a accordion coat hanger to display them on. I looked high and low and the only one I could find was rainbow. So I repainted it and then accessorized it. The grey may seem a bit dim but I redid my craft room in grey tones with touches of red.
Well this started as a basic need to hang up some chunkier necklaces. First it was just the would board painted with hooks...didn't like it. Then I found some mosaic stained glass pieces and added the mirror...needed more so I added the polymer clay dragon goddess in the middle.
The worst part was I didn't have any grout so I threw together some Plaster of Paris and painted it black and sealed it with poly.
I bought these a few years ago to put up in my daughters room. They were just your typical plain wood hooks from the craft store. Anyway she went out of her Disney princess theme and wanted something more glamorous. By the way she's 8 going on 25. So I whipped out the pink and brown paint and found my stash of misc. wood pieces and Viola!
and to show their 3-D
She loves them both but I'm keeping the heart for my craft room.
