11  White Vest in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Hadassah on: April 28, 2009 04:32:59 PM
I made a vest without a pattern, my own design. I haven't seen too many white ones out there and I just love the look of them, so I decided to go ahead and make my own. It has two darts in the front and two in the back. I'm so happy they turned out right!

I need to take in the side seams just a little bit because once I added the darts, it became "extremely form fitting".  Roll Eyes

What do y'all think? There are a couple more pictures on my blog (address in my signature) if you wanna take a peek.

12  I will live my life as a lobsterman's wife on an island in the blue bay... in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Hadassah on: April 24, 2009 08:31:49 AM
Yes, I love Ingrid Michaelson. No, I'm not really a lobsterman's wife. But after finishing this project, it just reminded me of the song.

Okay, so long story short, working on my last project (the fairy skirt) kind of hurt my machine, so I took it in and had it cleaned and serviced. Well, I missed it a lot, so when I got it back, I went straight to work to satisfy that "gotta sew" urge. I came up with this little sun dress that reminds me of beaches and fishing. The blue fabric has sailboats and lighthouses on it (from my stash) and I really like it.

Here is the front. I pleated it and I'm rather pleased with the outcome.

A closer up view of the pleats. I thought about gathering the top tier like the rest, but thought it might look a little too childish, so instead, I put four pleats (in the white fabric) so now it matches the top.

The full dress:

Here is the back. I made it halter and the back blue part has elastic so I didn't have to put in a zipper, clasp, buttons etc. It just slips right over my head and works great!

The design is my own and I'm happy to have another sundress for summer. Trying to wear more dresses during the summer.  Tongue

C & C are always welcome!

13  Fairy Skirt inspired by Addie Marie inspired by Gibbous skirts! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Hadassah on: April 16, 2009 11:08:40 AM
Thanks Addie Marie for inspiring me! I got to work immediately and stayed up half the night working on it. This was a super fun project!

I love it to death! ...which is kind of how my sewing machine felt too...it needs surgery now... Tongue
Thanks for looking! What do you think?

P.S. Just like always, there are more pictures on my blog.

14  A Corset in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Hadassah on: April 13, 2009 04:30:41 PM
Because I wanted a full "pirate/gypsy girl" costume, I made a corset which is fully reversible! It's sky blue on one side and a deeper, royal blue on the other. I had a pirate photo shoot today, but let's just say today was one of those "bad photo days".

(Don't mind the flipped up edge, I was falling off the log at the time and wasn't quite ready for the photo... As I said, bad photo day... Tongue Seems like I couldn't get very good shots of the darker blue side... Agghhhhh!!! Oh wait, "Arrrgghhh!!!")

And that's it! It took me QUITE a while to do that corset and I'm very proud. Although it's full of mistakes as it is my first corset. I'm sure I'll get better the more I do.

There are more pictures on my Blog if you feel interested and want to read a cheesy poem to go along with it... my blog

16  Summer Apron in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Hadassah on: March 19, 2009 03:18:27 PM
I actually made this last summer, but just now got around to taking photos and posting. It has gotten a LOT of use out of it.

This is the other side, the fabric looks the same, but it's actually different. It just matches well.

It was a learning experience... My own pattern, and the first time I've lined something that doesn't look awful. I also added piping for the first time. And I got to try out my machine's embroidery (for the lettering.)

17  Blue Spring Tote and Accessories [IMG heavy] in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Hadassah on: March 19, 2009 03:15:27 PM
Well I have been on a huge sewing kick lately (seriously, my sewing moods NEVER last this long, but it's been about a week!) so I went to Hobby Lobby with no plan in mind, I just needed a project. I bought this intense blue poly twill fabric. As soon as I saw it, I had this great idea for a new spring tote/purse with little lace trimmed pockets and a cute print for the lining.
My 1 year old puppy had surgery a couple of days ago on his head for a "suspicious looking lump" and so the first day we had him home (yesterday) I gave him the pain medicine and it turns out that it made him have to go out every hour so I was up last night pretty much the whole night, sewing and watching FRIENDS. Why is it that I do my best sewing at night or in the early hours of the morning? Haha, I watched like... 5 episodes of the show while sewing.
Today, I made the matching accessories which include a camera case and a sunglasses case (since I was needing both of those.)
I am in LOVE with this bag!

I present to you, the blue tote!

I really love the lining.

What do ya think?

18  Kimono Dress (1st attempt at a dress) *IMG Heavy* in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Hadassah on: February 16, 2009 03:17:11 PM
Okay, so I haven't posted in FOREVER. But I just hadn't had the inspiration to sew. I finally got the inspiration because of the lack of money for a dress and the desperate need of one. My sister just got married on Valentines day (I was her maid of honor) and so on the 13th, I needed a rehearsal dinner dress. I wanted it to be fancy, but I had no money to go out and buy one (every craftster's dilemma, isn't it?). Being the crafty, (yet lazy) person that I am, I decided to try my hand at a dress. I made one without a pattern and I'm rather pleased with the way it turned out if I do say so myself. Yay for no patterns! Usually the stuff I make turns out wrong (too small, too big, too baggy, too ugly, etc, etc, etc...) but this one actually worked. I've discovered the secret.
IRONING. Ironing and measuring. With that combination, it works! (Hehehe, several years of sewing, and I'm just now getting to this conclusion. I'm a lazy craftster. Somebody slap me.) Here is the inspiration:Here I added a split to mine because the skirt didn't turn out as full as I had wanted it, and I wanted to be able to walk in it. But I think the split is sassy.  Wink

Anyway, enough ramble, now to the pictures. I did a little photo shoot outside earlier with my self timer on my camera.

Can you tell I'm proud?  Grin Please tell me what you think! I'm so excited about this dress. I got LOTS of compliments at the dinner and rehearsal and I have to say, if you like attention, definitely make a dress. Maybe you'll even steal the Bride's attention and she'll glare at you!  Roll Eyes Haha. Comments?

Edit: Oh and the rose is from my best friend. She gave me a dozen roses yesterday and my favorite chocolate (Reese's peanut butter cups) because I was having such a horrible day. She's the best.

19  Re: Newbies Only Round 10 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Hadassah on: August 15, 2008 07:02:53 PM
Guess what! I got my package! WOOHOO! This will be kinda image heavy so...  Tongue

So, only after ripping into the package did I remember my camera. (It was like Christmas morning) In fact, my best friend was over and told me I wasn't ripping into it fast enough and that he needed to do it. I slapped his hands away and continued onward in my package ripping.  Smiley Cassie, I am SO EXTREMELY HAPPY AND SPOILED! I never dreamed of anything this cool! I love EVERYTHING! So, now that I have bragged on my partner (She's so great!) I will present everything that she sent me! (all the goodies that you've really been waiting to see rather than my rambling on.)  Roll Eyes
The inside top of the box after I had ripped into it.  Grin

Then the top-top had this on it.

The SUPER sweet note and teaser.

And a CURIOUS little brown paper bag had this written on it. I had told her that I like New York City and Paris.

Here is the Paris one.

Now onward to what was INSIDE the curious, cute little brown bag.
Cute little decorated cans of course! Now what would be inside there?  Shocked

Magnets! Beautiful magnets!  Cheesy

And the top of one.

The top with a few of them spread on there. If you haven't caught on by now, they are all themed. Paris, and New York City! Adorable little magnets!

Here are a lot of the cute little magnets spread out. I will use these and... MANY PEOPLE WILL BE JEALOUS OF ME WHEN THEY COME OVER! YAY!

Next, we have a green box with green tissue wrapping around it (Hey Cassie, *bites lip* Your package may not arrive in such style..... *bites nails*) It has lyrics from "The Piano Man" on it! (I love that song by the way.)

What's inside? A piano bracelet! (Which, just so you know, I wore to dance class this evening and got MANY MANY compliments! You are a brilliant genius Cassie!)

Here it is again.
Fits great!

Now this next one, is absolutely awesomely amazingly Fantastic!

A Jack Bauer shirt! Now tell me, who WOULDN'T want a Jack Bauer shirt? I had it on my wists. Little wist stalker!  Grin I love you Cassie! When I wisted this, I didn't think I'd ever get it. You made my wishes (or wists) come true! I will wear this shirt with pride and people will be absolutely green with envy.

And then this which will make you laugh if you have ever watched "24".

Thank you so much Cassie! I could not have asked for a better partner! You were awesome and hopefully you'll like the package you have coming for you as much as I liked this one! *wrings hands*

I loved my package and now I can't wait for you to get yours! Stupid slow UPS... I should have gone with normal mail.  Tongue It should be getting there Wednesday I think.

THANKS!
