21  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Terrible thrift store dress on clearance day on: March 11, 2008 08:48:03 PM
I need to severly alter a neckline which will interfere with the zipper. Would it be easier to add a new zipper or buttons or corset lacings?
22  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / I REALLY REALLY REALLY WANT THIS!!! on: March 06, 2008 04:16:12 PM
http://cgi.ebay.com/Gothic-Punk-Cosplay-Glp-Lolite-Skirt-Black-Shirt-TOP-L_W0QQitemZ220207384926QQihZ012QQcategoryZ63868QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I cant afford to buy the coat/dress from ebay and it's more fun to make it yourself anyway. Can anyone think of a pattern or tutorial that could help?

23  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Horse People on: October 12, 2007 10:59:33 AM
My neighborhood is having a sort of farming festival thing. We were planning an entire equestrian event but the ensurance refuses to let us have the horses despite everyone's years of horse experience. So now we have all of these horse related prizes (like horse cookies and brushes) and we need games that dont actually involve real horses and we only have a day and a half to plan. I'd love it if anyone could come up with something we can do. (Pin the tail on the horse, ANYTHING, we're a little desperate)
24  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Rather stripy ex tanktop for my friend in Australia on: August 23, 2007 11:12:14 AM
Okay, I had this travesty of a tanktop. Didnt fit and it was vaugly the color of vomit. I took no before pictures for fear of immortalizing it's memory...

Well yeah, my friend Erin who lives in Oz wanted a nightmare before christmas tee shirt. Alas I must over complicate everything and she gets neither NMBC or tee. Though it is rather Tim Burton-ey I think...

The front in all it's stripy glory.

The back. Straps sort of cross over and it buttons behind the neck making a halter top thing. Mainly this is because I made a mistake and didnt cut enough pinstripe fabric but it works.

I also made a random wrist band that laces up that I'm unimaginable pleased about.

And an armwarmer.

I MUSTover complicate EVERYTHING
25  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / If you've never seen an elephant water skii, clearly you've never been on acid.. on: August 04, 2007 12:37:38 PM
Oki Doke, I made a mushroom bead (dunno what species but it looks halucinogenic to me)

I love the polka dots Grin

In my hand (duh)

and also...

ELEPHANT-SAN!!!

Yeah, weird moment that...

I love fimo clay...
26  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Fangs and human finger bone earings... on: August 04, 2007 12:33:12 PM
Okay their not REAL human finger bones, but that's probably a good thing. There's a difference between macabre and just plain creepy...

Any way, I saw these earings at www.necromance.com under jewlery then earings that actually were human finger bones (who exactly dedicated their finger to become an earing is a mystery that I'm not sure I want to solve). They were only $15 each so I kind of want to buy them but Mommy says no...

Any way, it's made out of fimo clay and I love the result...

On my friend's table

Next to my hand, sort of as a size reference.

by my ear, where it will be once I attach it to an earring piece.

And my darling fang earings (also refferenced from www.necromance.com the coyote teeth earings)

Well anyways, tell me what you think, I had a lot of fun making these. Cheesy
27  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Bellatrix Lestrange on: July 29, 2007 02:18:26 PM
Well the 21st was the Harry Potter book 7 party. Thus I needed a costume fit for the occasion. I love Bellatrix Lestrange's outfit so I went with that.

Finished

I was suffocating in my wig, kept inhaling plastic hair. It was a terrible experience. I had to have a wig because my hair is really short

The shirt was just a plain black shirt that I cut to death and laced back together with strips of vinal(sp?). I was planning to make a proper corset for this but my sewing machine decided to go on strike (turns out I threaded the machine wrong, I sence sabatage). In a fit of angst I made a cheap wannabe corset that's basically a long strip of vinal you lace up in the front and back.

Attempt at back detail

I tried to make the necklace Bella wears
http://www.curiousgood.com/?page_id=297
but i had no clay and very little time so I tried to make it out of tin foil. Strongly not recomended. I didnt know tin foil could get as sharp as it did. Thus I had no necklace.

I already had the skirt and it seemed apropriet (sp?)

I dont have any action shots because Alex hasnt emailed me pictures from the party yet. It's her birthday so Ill let her off easy.

Anyway, just wanted to share that with you all.

Oh and by the way, much to my great amusement I got interviewed at said party and ended up in the news paper. I'll post the link to the article when i find it again.

28  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Ribbon Replacement? on: June 17, 2007 02:12:33 PM
I'm making an outfit that'll seriously require about 30 or more feet of ribbon or something like that. I want really dark red ribbon but I dont want to have to go and buy ribbon for a few dollars a yard. Is there any good replacement or am I just going to have to go to the fabric store?
29  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / 73 pop cans later... on: June 15, 2007 10:49:13 PM
Oki doke, this is my first topic. Not my first project but the first thing I've liked enough to post on here Lips sealed

Well I raided the recycling for the past year and a half (we had 73 pop cans Oh Joy!!!) and I'd seen a lot of pop tab jewlery and clothes and stuff and being so inspired I made this...

My wonderful bracelet containing 30 pop tabs
me wearing it

And this...

My choker  Grin 43 pop tabs
lovely close up
side view to show how it's layered. (If it's only one layer it's all sharp and pokey and painful. Hurts quite a lot, just trust me on this...)
Me wearing my bracelet and choker

me looking vaguely angry while wearing my choker... Freddy Krueger wanted to be in this pic... like really bad. Lips sealed

Well thanks for taking time to check this out... have an awesome summer!!!

EDIT:

Link to tutorial.

I searched long and hard to find someone who used the same method as me and had step by step pictures.

30  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / I want to make this on: May 13, 2007 10:32:34 AM
http://www.inthestarlight.com/blouses.html

It's the last black top on the page, simply called "long sleeve blouse". I think it's gorgous but it's $42. Thus I'd rather make it myself. Anyone know of a good pattern?

Thanks very much.
