11  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / my hair does not retain dye on: August 25, 2009 10:03:13 PM
I know black dye is supposed to last forever basically, but for some odd reason dye fades amazingly fast for me. All colors just disappear in a month or so no matter what I try to do. Does anyone have any tips?
12  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / The vegetarian loves a carnivore on: July 02, 2009 12:57:59 AM
Okay so I've been a vegetarian my entire life, I've never even tasted meat. I dont even know how you go about cooking any particular meat product, unless it comes in a box with instructions involving a microwave. Well, my fiance is a massive carnivore, like I cant even persuade him to eat salad. Does anyone know any simple recipes or non offensive ones to make (as in I'm a bit squeemish around dead things) that I could start out with so I can learn how to make him food that he would enjoy. Does anyone have the same problem as me?
13  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Stupid Petticoat (frowny faces and lack of patterns) on: June 15, 2009 07:41:56 PM
Angry Okay, so I've been buying tulle for ages, many colors and many many yards (like 15 or 20 total probably) only I cant find a pattern for a petticoat. I know that there are some here on craftster, but I cant find any. I've searched and searched (and searched and searched and searched) so if anyone can give me a link that would be so unbelievably fantastic Angry
14  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Hat forms are a foreign concept on: June 10, 2009 09:39:43 PM
How do you put the fabric over them without it puckering or looking like crap? Is there any way to make a hat form? I've seen ones out of cardboard and such but that just doesnt seem like it'd be the best quality. I really want to make top hats, I just need a little help getting started.
15  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Gothic trench on: June 07, 2009 12:05:50 AM
I really desperatly want to make a gothic trench coat (well more accuratly a duster, so there's no belt). I cant find any patterns for a coat even similar to the one I want, and I'm not a skilled enough sewer to make my own. Does anyone know of any patterns?
16  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Petticoat, help please on: May 22, 2009 01:08:08 PM
I have roughly 10 yards of bright red tulle I bought at a thrift store for $7 and I would really like to transform it into a petticoat (like the ones at hottopic, not necessarily historically accurate) and in my sewing class we have an independant project coming up where we choose a pattern and sew it, so does anyone know of a pattern for a petticoat? Like an actual pattern, not a tutorial. For some odd reason Hewitt wont let me make anything with instructions someone posts on here.
17  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / A rather foamy discovery on: May 08, 2009 04:43:50 PM
okay, I know this isnt overly impressive, but if you add coffee and diet coke together it makes a root beer float effect, so it's foamy and delicious. Best of all worlds.
18  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Anybody drink venom energy drinks? on: April 03, 2009 05:25:35 PM
I have a few bottles of venom energy drinks

I love unique purses, like a lot, I'm making one out of a medical book, another out of an old radio, neck ties, candy wrappers, but I'm not sure how exactly to use the bottles as the metal is fairly thick. I dont know what sort of tool to cut it with or anything. I just want it to lay flat basically, I'm not too sure what to do after that but I think I can manage.

I'd be really happy to get some help/input
19  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / Sakura Con is coming up...HELP!!! on: February 27, 2009 05:58:45 PM
Okay so I'm going to 2 days of Sakura Con (an anime convention in Seattle, Washington) Saturday and Sunday. For one day I'm going as Butterfly from Tarot Cafe, and I have that all planned out. But there's still one day I have no planning for. I really want something lolita-ish, but I'm not sure what to do. And my sewing skills are fairly mediocre, but I do have 40 days. Just if anyone has ideas, I'm at a loss... Huh Embarrassed Huh
20  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / It's a nice day for a black wedding on: April 21, 2008 04:13:44 PM
I just got a few yards of black fabric I think would make a fabulous veil, it's see through, yet still dark. I love it

Well I got it into my head I should make an entire dress to go with my veil (so I can be like a gothic bride, despite the fact if I get married it'll be years from now)

Anyone know of any tutorials or patterns that would make a nice dress for this?

I really like improvising on my projects as well, so a rough outline would be good too, I've just never made a dress before
