1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Mod/Punk Duvet Cover and pillow cases on: June 16, 2008 08:20:53 AM
This King size duvet cover is loosely based on Lotta Jansdotter's pattern in Simple Sewing. Well ok, only the ties!! The fabric is a mix of prints from Jo-ann. The peace signs and mod faces are both from Alexander Henry. What do you think?!

2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Weird Doll Head Garden Sculpture on: May 17, 2008 05:50:30 AM
This idea is from Mark Montano's book, Big-Ass Book of Crafts. His idea is to make them paperweights, but I plan to install them in the mini sculpture garden I'm making behind my art studio.

I bought a bunch of old dolls in various sizes at Goodwill, filled them with plaster of paris, and then stuck a kabob skewer in the plaster. I'm hoping the skewer will help keep them upright in the dirt. I spray painted them black, then overlaid the black with metallic gold. I tried to distress the paint to make them look old and I also protected the eyes so they would continue to open and shut. I like them, even though they are kind of weird.

3  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Kangaroo Pop-up Card on: April 15, 2008 09:49:49 AM
A few messages down, I posted a seagull pop-up card I made from a Japanese book called "3D Pop-up Cards". This is a kangaroo from the same book. The difference is the card sits horizontally rather than vertically. It actually was easier than the bird, though I didn't think it would be. The trick for me is to fold the paper against the grain.
4  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Seagull Pop-up Card on: April 14, 2008 02:32:38 PM
I made this 3D pop-up card from a template I found in a Japanese craft book. I scrapbook weight card and a simple glue stick. The first one was the hardest but it got easier - I love it!
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Hand-Knit Dog Sweater on: November 29, 2007 10:56:22 AM
I knit this center cable sweater from a pattern in Ilene Hochberg's Stylish Knits for Dogs. I'm a beginning knitter - this was my first cable ever!  - and it took me only two days. Totally easy - the chest piece is simply sewn to the back - no need to shape armholes. The yarn is a wool/acrylic blend from Michael's (he's a dog after all, it needs to be washed). He likes wearing it believe it or not!
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / 1920s Cloche hats from Felted Sweaters on: November 04, 2007 07:35:31 PM
I made these hats out of felted cashmere sweaters, vintage belt buckles and ribbon. The pattern is from Cynthia Treen's book, Last minute Fabric Gifts. They are so easy!

7  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Tiny Bunnies from Felted Cashmere Sweaters on: November 02, 2007 02:01:31 PM
These bunnies fit in the palm of your hand. I felted old cashmere sweaters in the washing machine to make hats, then used my scraps to make these little guys. They are so soft!
8  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / miniature felt lunch! on: October 08, 2007 04:30:02 PM
I made this miniature felt lunch from 100% wool felt. The ideas for the salad, soup, sandwich, platter and utensils come from a japanese craft book I bought on etsy.

Most everything came together pretty quickly, the hardest part is working with such small pieces.

9  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / miniature felt breads and donuts! on: October 08, 2007 04:14:25 PM
I made this 'basket' of breads from 100% wool felt. The donuts are the smallest of the group, and measure about 1" across. The baguette measures about 3" long.

The ideas came from a japanese craft book I bought off of etsy on 'miniature felt foods'. Most everything was quick and easy to make - even though I don't read japanese it was pretty obvious what you were meant to do.

10  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Completed Projects / "exploding" book on: August 24, 2007 08:06:29 PM

I went to an "exploding" scrapbook workshop at my scrapbooking store last week. I am giving this as a gift, so I didn't put photos in, but I even love it without the photos! It turned out really cool!
