1  Re: A whole morning of baking in Dessert by Jessiac_3 on: October 11, 2007 10:09:16 PM
Ok, so I made the cake for Hubby's birthday (which is on Sunday).  I don't think I did half bad for my first time actually making a layered cake!  Usually I just do cupcakes, or one that stays in the pan.  Thanks for the awesome idea, I'm sure he'll love it!   Cheesy

Maybe one of my drunk friends will try to drink it! lol

I wouldn't put it past them if they get drunk enough!  At least it's non-toxic!  Wink

One of my friends did this at our housewarming party, note the "essential kitchen equipment" on the right side of the sink...

3  Type O Negative Birthday for my Hubby in Completed Projects by Jessiac_3 on: October 10, 2007 05:15:09 PM
Ok, so Hubby's Birthday is on Sunday, and his favorite band, Type O Negative is coming to the RAVE in Milwaukee on October 20.  Sooo, being the wonderful wifey-poo that I am, I bought him two tickets to the concert, and made him a coupon good for one band t-shirt of his choice.

Here's a close-up pic of the t-shirt and the package the tickets are in:

Here's the back of the t-shirt coupon:

Here's a pic of the package the tickets are in, as well as the envelope that holds the coupon for the t-shirt:

The tickets are huge because I ordered them online, so they printed on an 8.5" x 11" piece of paper.  I found some cardboard, and covered it in the wrapping paper.

I would have used some better crafty supplies, but I made this up today on my break at work.  I could only find the lime-green paper with holes on the side, so I punched holes on both sides to make it look like I meant for it to be that way  Tongue

I made the paper by first designing the Type O Negative symbol in Microsoft Word, and copying and pasting it over and over on a single page.  Then I printed it on the lime green paper.

I made the t-shirt coupon by finding a picture of it online, coloring it with a green highlighter, and using rubber cement to put it on a couple pieces of tagboard.  I then cut it out to the t-shirt shape and colored the back side with green highlighter, and made the little note on it with a sharpie.

A whole ton of tape later, I had a wrapped package, a card, and an envelope!  I hope he likes it... Smiley

4  Gaaah! There's Spiders on my Monitor! in Completed Projects by Jessiac_3 on: October 03, 2007 05:55:31 PM
Made out of pipecleaners and buttons that is...

I was bored and found my pipecleaners and buttons and pondered, "What can I craft with these?"  Then I remembered a project I had found on Family Fun: http://jas.familyfun.go.com/arts-and-crafts?page=CraftDisplay&craftid=10086

Here they are!

I also made the bat for good measure, here's a close-up.

I wonder if hubby will notice?   Cheesy

Ok, I just got word from eye_on_sparrow that she received my package, and at her request I will post pics of what I sent her!

Here's all the stuff together:

I made her a hat and scarf with my knifty knitter:

She said she had a child in college, so when I was trying to spend my last $0.50, I bought some Ramen noodles:

I made her some foaming chocolate milk bath sachets, bought a loofa, and decorated a plastic container to hold the bath sachets:

Here's a close-up of the container:

And here's the remaining crafty supplies:

I forgot to make myself a copy of my receipts, so I don't have the exact prices on things, but I confess I went over by $1.16!   Embarrassed

I was counting the change from one of my purchases, not the total, so I didn't realize that I had gone over (I thought I spent exactly $10!) until I was packing up my items to put them in the mail...

While my goodies aren't nearly as fabulous as what eye_on_sparrow sent me, I hope she enjoys them, and now that I've seen the full potential of $10, I hope I can create much much more next time!

Yay!  I received all my goodies from eye_on_sparrow today...I am blown away by what she has created for me! Cheesy Shocked  And I hope she still enjoys what I've sent to her (should arrive by Tuesday, by the way...)

Here's the goods!

This is what I first saw when I opened the box...she made me a quilt!

She also made a kitty crinkle sack...maybe Lucky will stop licking plastic bags now...

She made two felted mice that Lucky decided to attack, and chase under the couch...

Sammy was more interested in the box, but I snuck a mouse in there, so he would play with that too!

Success!

Sammy had to investigate the sack as well...

Here's the goods in all their entirety...as well as my possessed cat attacking the skein of yarn...

Sorry for so many pics, I just had to show how much the boys were enjoying their new stuff!  (Don't worry, I'll be having fun too, since I now know I need to find out how to make more of those felted mice...they just love them!

Here's her tally of the cost:

Black embroidered silk + tan silk fabric.....................................Free!
Needle punch cotton quilt batting..........................................$2.00
3 skeins grey lion wool ($2 each)...........................................$6.00
1 crochet preg_replace('/(.{49})/', '$1 ', 'hook..................................................................')$0.97
1 package of preg_replace('/(.{49})/', '$1 ', 'cellophane......................................................')$0.97

preg_replace('/(.{49})/', '$1 ', 'Total................................................................................')$9.94

Thank you so much Leesa!  This has been an awesome experience, and I know I have to keep my eyes out for bargains now...so I can participate again next time! Wink

7  Natural Silhouettes Grocery Bag in CHALLENGE 20 ENTRIES by Jessiac_3 on: August 01, 2007 08:56:11 PM
Ok folks, here's my first ever contest entry!  First off, I have to say that I love this challenge idea, and am looking forward to taking my bag to the store with me next time...

I had to cheat and buy my bag because we just finished moving over the weekend, and all my sewing stuff is still packed up.

But here goes:

I got the idea to decorate it from this link: http://jas.familyfun.go.com/arts-and-crafts?page=CraftDisplay&craftid=10018

I used foam letters to make the words, and trimmings from my new yard to make the leaf images.

It was fun!

My cat, Lucky, likes it too!  (Though he prefers to use it-and the other two I made-as a chair, rather than a way to carry groceries around!)
