11  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Jar of Mini Whimsies Round 2 Swap Gallery! on: July 17, 2008 04:54:57 PM
I  Received my jar from littlebiskit and I am not home to open it Cry. My husband called me in Boston to tell me it was on my desk. Aaargh!

I'll open it Monday-it'll be another birthday present  (probably more to my liking than the gifts from family-LOL!)

Wow!  I came back from just a weekend away to find so many AMAZING jars in the gallery.

Not to mention my sneaky swap partner, littlebiskit, who posted some tease photos.  I am so very excited!   And I picked up some final little things and extras.  I will finish and mail this week - hurray!

Yeah!  Round 2!

I hit a little whimsie jackpot today!  I found a booth at our local antiques mall that had lots of baskets with wonderful little baggies full of interesting whimsies and such!  I was thrilled to find fun small things here - the thrift shops near me are either really gross or very overpriced (priced by the professional antiquers that trade their volunteered time in exchange for first dibs - kinda ruining it for the rest of us)

After some final gathering over the holiday weekend my jar will certainly be finished and spilling over! Cheesy

I suspect that our gallery will be filled with photos of one envious jar after another!

I got inspired and spent the morning crafting little things!  I hope my partner doesn't think I went over board stalking her  Grin.  I also took the advice of another crafter and found that nice Ball jar at AC Moore.   The overflow will pad the glass jar in the box!

Wow!  I got back from my vacation in Cape Cod to find everyone so busy (and so lucky to find good flea markets!  Not too many good ones down by me, especially in the warmer/rainy months).

But I am ready to start filling a jar.   Fortunately I was paired with an easy-to stalk partner who will be fun to put a jar together for.  And I will be doing some little crafts like I did in the first go around.  I had little presents tucked away within the jar.   But I have to decide plastic or glass.  hmmm.

Ohh man! My favourite vacation spot ever! I love Cape Cod so much. If I were going I'd fill an entire jar with tiny shells and shark teeth. But.. I'd end up keeping them for myself. Cheesy

Shells!  I always include shells! In all my swaps as extras (unless I forget to put them in the package)!  I am totally obsessed with collecting shells - and Sanibel Island (SW Florida) has to be the shell capital of the US (or one of them!)  It is fabulous for collectors and crafters!

Collecting little things can be addicting!  The candy shops (like ours in the area mall) has funky little things by the register for sale (amazing that you can actually buy something in a mall for a quarter!)

I, too, am going on vacation just when it starts.  I can check via i-phone and read up on eansy weansy type  - at least it works.  I'll be shopping for whimsies in Boston (go Celtics) and Cape Cod.  Loving that extra excuse for shopping!

Jar hint:  My grocery  store had good sized jars (plastic) filled with trail mix.  Easy to eat (ok, maybe not as tasty as biscotti) and clean out the jar.
