1  Re: Shape, Color and Texture Swap Round 2 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Quail on: August 07, 2008 05:17:30 PM
I am so happy you liked the packaged I put together for you, chibilightangel!  Especially since I had a few computer crafting roadblocks along the way!  I was excited to find the blue swirl handmade paper at an art supply store and even more excited to find the gold fish papers/card.

Here are the photos from my terrific swap partner (who takes much better photos than I do - I need some pointers - or patience).

Blue was my color (aqua/turquoise).  Love these earrings.  I am doing a lot of blue lately.  Must be the desire to cool off from the heat!

Fuzzy was the texture.  She created some great handspun yarn.  Should I crochet with it?  Use the fibers as embellishments?  I think I just want to display it in a pretty bowl!!

rectangle was the shape.  She crafted a great blank journal.  It was so well made - I keep opening it up to see how she put it together.  So square and even!  And it is decorated with a cool, retro, stamped oval pattern.  Love this, too.

Chibilightangel - what a terrific package - thank you!!

2  Re: Jar of Mini Whimsies Round 2 Swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by Quail on: July 22, 2008 11:12:20 AM
Finally I am able to post photos from the incredible jar that Littlebiskit sent.    I can't tell you how long it took to set everthing up for a photo op!  There were so many tiny animals (that I plan to imbed in resin) that I gave up setting them up and just put a representation!

Check these out for some I-Spy!

A shot of the whole jar's contents!

Vintage jewelry for me to craft with, tiny statues, mini erasers, an adorable shrink plastic quail....
(BTW, I think I had those crazy black, beaded, dangly earings in the 80's)

A representation of terrific teany tiny animals (which apparently were meant for the dinosaur that she sent for my son to eat but I may keep them myself.  Besides, the dinosaur is busy fighting aliens right now).  Cute gingham brads!

I love Hello Kitty and other japanese pop cute characters.  I now have a wallet (which is waterproof and will go with me to the beach); paper, stickers, and more.  And lots of other cute whimsies!

More Hello Kitty, paper, flower crafting supplies, lots of foreign money from several different coutries which is so cool.  Sport beans to motivate me to run (which is on my mind after being at a lake this weekend with my very fit and thin friends and feelin' flabby!)

Also included were some cool Minnesota souvenirs.  Postcards and buttons from the Halloween Capitol of the world (note to Littlebiskit:  My younger son is very obsessed with Halloween!)  and a loon thimble.

So many other cool things that I know I didn't mention.  Many thanks to my awesome swap partner!! and to Homerof2 for organizing!!!

Yay!   I am home from vacation and was greeting by a very VERY heavy box all hand decorated on the packaging from littlebiskit!  My son was eagerly prying "what's in the box?"   And yesterday was my birthday I might add so the celebration continues...

Wow!  she was worried about sending things that were not handcrafted (I found the hello kitty resin cabachons!)  .  Not one jar but TWO were absolutely stuffed with goodies!  And a dinosaur for my son who was thrilled with the gift and walked away with it to leave me to pour everything out in peace.

I snapped a quick photo with my phone and will take more photos later to upload.  I just wanted to let it be known that my terrific swap partner, littlebiskit, outdid herself and found such great whimisies for me!!!

More photos coming!

Finally - I couldn't wait any longer to deal with my better camera so I opted to use an alternative so I could show off my package from KimberlyPye!

My round:

She knit a round ornament/ball with an adorable quail on one side and my craftster name Quail on the other (see next photo).

for pink:

A knit dishcloth with a nice pattern.  I have never been able to knit and am amazed that people can create patterns like this!  Don't know if I could actually use this in my kitchen - it is too pretty!

for soft:

Be jealous now.  This is the cutest knit octopus.  It is soft with curly legs.  So very cute.   I had to hide it in my house to photograph it before my son tries to steal it!

KimberlyPye really did a fabulous job crafting my shape, color, and texture choices!  Such a talented knitter and great swap partner!  Thanks!!

5  Re: Zippered Pouch Swap Gallery!!! in The Swap Gallery by Quail on: May 31, 2008 12:53:50 PM
Here are the photos of the great pouch Coral sent:

It's made from recycled pink courdoroy pants.  Just happened to have great button placement!!

Inside was awesome yarn (crocheting mind working...), beautiful stitch markers, agate from Oregon (cool!) and tea for me to relax and enjoy.

Many thanks!!!

I snuck off to entertain myself with the completely filled-to-the-rim jar of goodies that was sent to me by camelama.

The contents of the jar for me to sort through, play with, and enjoy!

The most amazing lavender sachets in the shape of hearts.  She makes her own organic lavender filling and it smells like the relaxation pillows at the high end spas!  beaded bracelets, wine charms with a tropical motif (for my tropical home), colorful wood flower and bead necklace that the younger girls I substitute teach for will go crazy over, a Seattle keychain (cool!), dragonfly pin....

A large collection of the cutest japanese food erasers - food packages, sushi, and little pocky's - love these!!!  And the funniest little signs that seem to say 'no sleeping at your desk' and 'no spying on people'?

...the cutest collection of little figures of kinda creepy cute kids in costume and other cute figures, mini devil ducks, ninjas, koi and puffer fish, cutie cat clips, great charms and the cutest set of magnets with inanimate objects that have faces.
plus buttons, beads, flat glass marbles, stickers and more!
Amazing!  This was such a fun swap to give and to receive!!!

And my birthday is three months away!!!

I received my jar from camelama this morning.  I have been too busy to open in up and photograph the contents but I already see it is filled with charms, cute little figures that I like, beads, and all kids of colorful things!!  I know it will be amazing, just look at the jar itself!  And inside the box were two organic )food bars (thanks for not putting in meltable things Cheesy! ) and origami paper with a dessert theme.  Later today, when I have time to photograph and list, I will.    I can't wait!

I've started decorating my craft room in red and aqua (with a bit of pink).  I found the perfect Amy Butler fabric to recover my vintage chair's seats with.

This was the chair with older cushion before....

This is the new cushion!

10  Bits and Pieces Box - Vintage Jewelry leftovers! in Completed Projects by Quail on: March 30, 2008 08:56:32 PM
I had a stash of bits and pieces of vintage jewelry, buttons, beads and other whimsical little things.

I got bored, took out my hot glue gun and embellished a wooden cigar box.

It came turned out to be a fun piece!
