1  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Soups/Stews! on: October 22, 2011 10:23:22 PM
With the oncoming Winter lurking, I have been craving soup like crazy, and have been thus far very courageous in my soup attempts, and have not been living by recipes.

I have made vegetable and bean soup, turkey chili, and veggie/sausage/penne minestrone thus far.  I am either lucky or talented (leaning more toward lucky) that everything has been delicious so far.  However, I fear the unknown!

With my soup endeavors just beginning, does anyone have good combinations?  Or the opposite?  I just tried kale in my minestrone, and it was an excellent green to throw in!

Hiya craftsters,

I've been pretty remiss about posting anything or signing into my account for a while, but I'm getting pretty good at this 'lurking' thing.  =)

So, I figured I would amend that.  I just left my job of five years, and the last week or so I've taken off before I start a new one.  This is the first time in FOREVER that I've had time off, so there's been plenty of sleep, revelry, and crafting.

The short story of this project is that I had a rectangle of cardboard lying around and I wanted to collage.  I whipped out this sucker in a couple hours, and I'm sort of in love with it.  Nothing special, but it's something after the last six months of slavery to school and work.

Coming up next?  My dusty, sad sewing machine and picking up an altered book I haven't worked on in four years.
3  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Duct Tape Princess! on: October 29, 2007 03:49:57 PM
So I just had this amazing flash of inspiration, and I am going to be a duct tape princess for Halloween!  I have the day off of work tomorrow and I'm going to start it tonight.

My costume is going to be three or four parts...a wand, a crown, a dress, and possibly a bolero cause I'll get cold.  I'm going for a short dress, to save time, but I need a pattern!  I can't decide whether to do halter, a-line, poofy skirt, etc.  I'm tall and slender, and not crazy busty.

Also, how is it going to fasten?  Do I need a zipper, or is it possible that I can pull it over my head, or do I tape it up at the last second?

I figure I'll do the initial patterns with newspaper, and then put colored duct tape  (stripes, blocking) over the newspaper.

I'M STOKED!  Please help!  Any ideas are welcome!
