1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / sealing a collage on metal? on: February 27, 2005 04:56:31 PM
I'm trying to make some little paper collages on some flat, enameled metal charms and then seal it and use it in earrings. There's so many damn kinds of glue and sealer -  does anyone have any recommendations...something that dries clear and shiny, is permanant, and safe to wear? Thanks for any help.
2  UNITED STATES / Rhode Island / visting Providence....tips anyone? on: February 13, 2005 02:49:28 PM
I'm planning on visiting Providence to shop at the closeout bead places.....anyone have suggestions on cool neighborhoods to stay in? Good places to hang out by yourself? (traveling alone).

Thanks!
3  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / best paint for stenciling on cards? on: January 23, 2005 03:48:52 PM
Hi everyone. I am new to stenciling and cardmaking, and was wondering if anyone could suggest a good paint for stenciling on paper? I am aiming for a smooth (hopefullly professional) look. The paint I bought _Stencil Magic Paint Creme) is not giving me the effect I was hoping for.

Maybe I should be looking for a type of ink rather than paint? Thanks for any help.
4  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / attatching trim to square pillow? on: January 17, 2005 08:29:27 PM
I bought some great pom pom trim today and want to make a square pillow with it. I know how to make a zippered pillow, but can anyone enlighten me on how to sew the trim in.....I'm sure it's fairly easy but I don't have a clue.

It may be time to go out and actually buy a big sewing book.

6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / anyone up for craft supply swap? on: January 16, 2005 11:55:30 AM
I'm cleaning house today and have ended up with a pile of beads, ribbon, and other things that I doubt I'll ever use. Anyone interested in a craft supplies grab bag swap? Grab bags are sooooo fun.

I'd be willing to organize it. Let me know.
7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / painting metal charms? on: January 16, 2005 09:58:01 AM
I really want some of these cages:

http://www.firemountaingems.com/details.asp?PN=H142226FN

However, I want them in another color. Is it possible to paint something like this (nickel plated), and if so, what type of paint would I use. I'm about to go to the craft store (again) and see if I can figure it out, but thought I'd ask here.

Oh, and these would likely be used in earrings, so I wouldn't want the paint to rub off.

Thanks for any advice.
8  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / suggestions for stencilling on fabric (for pillows?) on: December 26, 2004 08:24:12 PM
Hi. I'm completely new to stencilling, and would like to try stencilling on some cotton fabric I'm planning on making pillows from. Can anyone suggest a brand of fabric paint? I just want to know what to look for. Thanks.
9  UNITED STATES / Texas / favorite TX thrift stores? on: December 22, 2004 10:11:09 PM
I'm working on compiling a guide of TX thrift stores. It's a big state, and I need help. If you have any in your area you want to tell me about, please post them here (even just the name and town would be helpful). I have Austin, San Marcos, and Bryan/College Station covered at this point.

Thanks for any help.
10  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / sources for magnetic snaps? on: December 12, 2004 07:49:20 PM
Anyone have any suggestions for buying many magnetic snaps at once (maybe 20)? I've only found them individually packaged and the prices were terrible. Thanks for any help.
