so, how soon is too soon for a christmas ornament swap?

i know, i know... it's barely september. but things aren't busy now, and will be in a month or two.

opinions? when should this years crafty christmas festivities start?

The Fabricland located at Jane and Bloor in Toronto is closing!

I'm quite saddened, as they were always stocked up with the good stuff, but also quite excited because all their fabric is AT LEAST 50% off! Trims at 75% off, if not more. They're closing at the end of February, so there is quite some time to go, but they're already being wiped out of a lot of good stuff!

I was thinking it would be fun to Shrine-a-long in 2008, so here it goes!

There will be a theme for every month of the year. I have yet to think up all the themes, but please make suggestions if you think something would be appropriate! We're trying to leave the themes as open ended as possible, so you can personalize your shrine as much as you want. Here are the themes so far:

January - Resolutions for 2008 or a significant happening in 2007
February - Shrine for or about someone/thing you love
March -
April -
May -
June -
July -
August -
September - Shrine for school or childhood
October -
November -
December -

Please don't think you have to shrine according to the theme! That's just there to provide inspiration, should you need it. Please post all your 2008 shrines!

I made these works for the Ontario College of Art and Design's annual Whodunit art show and sale... last year! I can't post this years work because that would ruin the secret!
This year's show is coming up, so if you're from Toronto I suggest you check it out!

I divided my canvas up into eight parts and experimented with different techniques in each section, using different textures and mediums (gloss or matte, gel or liquid, all that stuff)

The pigeons were kind of an after thought... but I love pigeons, so it works. Thoughts?
