11  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Re: Embroidery for Dummies??? on: August 02, 2005 09:28:44 AM
P.S. You can't find a cheaper, easier, more versatile hobby than embroidery.

yep, I second that. Go to sublimestitching.co m. Her stitch-it kit is wonderful, but before that came out I just bought some of her patterns (only $3 each) and some thread and needles and I was set. She has great instructions and tips on her site. That stitch-it kit is an awesome investment, though (and a heck of a price, you can't beat it). Great patterns, a book, sewing supplies and a tea towel.
13  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Pin-up girl swap (Sign Up CLOSED; Mail by 31 July 05) on: July 26, 2005 08:10:04 AM
We move into our new pad this weekend, so I'm hoping to find all my pin-up swap stuff by early next week and will drop it in the mail. Fortunately, this was the rare swap where I started on it early and had stuff ready to go by  the beginning of July...now I just have to find it.

I'll mail my pardner's tomorrow. I meant to do it on Friday but have been moving, blah blah blah. Sorry it's late! Tongue

I thought we had similar taste in books, and I really loved Middlesex.
Also, I liked The Idiot Girls' Action-Adventure Club : True Tales from a Magnificent and Clumsy Life so much that I bought a copy of it for my sister for her bday last week.

19  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Thrift Store Picture Revamp Round III -- sign up 7/1-7/15 (first send by 8/1 on: July 15, 2005 09:08:21 AM
Thanks guys!

I didn't lose any of my possession (even have the pic I was going to use for this swap). They just have to take everything off-site to get the smell out while they clean my apartment and rebuild the top half of the building. That means all my stuff (craft supplies, etc) will be in storage for at least 2 weeks. Plus, I think we may just end up moving during that time to a new house so that we can avoid the chaos and reconstruction. On top of all that, I have an 8 year old daughter who starts 3rd grade next month, and I start grad school. I think I should just finish up my current swaps and be a lurker here for a while and work on getting us relocated.

It's been fun playing on craftster, though, and I'll be back when everything settles down at home.  Kiss

Loobylashes and teamwang -- I don't think we have anyone else from the UK in yet, so if you want to join you could be partners.
