3501  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: Hand painted Pheonix box on: March 09, 2009 08:49:25 AM
Things like this are why I'm forever putting "a phoenix item" on my OWS list! Just lovely. There's never enough phoenix things out there.
3502  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: One Tiny Thing 21 (OTT 21) :: Sign-up Mar 1-6 :: Send Mar 31 on: March 09, 2009 08:45:09 AM
It only works if people read the comments, of course, but you can get a better coverage of what you like and don't and why that way, and you don't have to be quite so picky about what you wist.
I love when people have comments on their wists. It helps to know why they wisted it or what about it they like and don't.

I made two test runs of a possible project for my OTT last night. The first one I messed up but the second is pretty good. This is why I had to try it out first before making it for real. I'm going to try another variation as well I think and then decide which I like best. Grin

i recieved from her today as well but in my excitement i gave the one piece to its intended as soon as i opened the package. so i have to go chasing pictures lol
Too funny. That's ok, it just means things are well-loved already, right? Cheesy

I enjoyed using the quilt tonight while watching tv on the couch. The soft fleece backing makes it warm and fuzzy and the turtles are just so darn cute. Plus, the little jigsaw puzzle pieces fascinate me. I found myself just looking at how all those little bits and pieces and corners and shapes come together.

Have I mentioned how much I love it yet? Grin
3504  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Miniature Tree of Life Cell Phone Charm Pendant on: March 08, 2009 10:15:24 PM
I made this for the Invite Your Partner Rd 11 swap and now that 1boy1girl1kitty2 has received her package, I can finally show it off.

Of course, you guys know I'm a little crazy about the Tree of Life pendants (heck, I think half the forum at this point has wisted and received one from me in a swap!) but I wanted to try something a little different for this particular package because, well, ok, so she already had a pendant. That and she had mentioned something about cell phone charms and I knew garnet was her birthstone. And thus, a teeny, mini, Tree was born.

It uses brown and copper wire plus natural garnet gemstone for the "leaves."

I didn't get a size comparison shot. (Dummy me.) The best I can show you is this group shot of items I took which gives you a better idea of scale:

(See the little bottle and other charm? Very small!)

I used scraps of wire for it leftover from normal sized Trees. It was a little challenging just handling such tiny wires but I just LOVE how it came out. Grin

When I got home from work last night, I had a couple packages waiting for me. One of them was my main item from 1boy1girl1kitty2. Holy crap! She said she's send me a quilt - which, the idea alone was impressive - but I didn't know exactly what she had in mind.

I opened the package and inside was a fleece blanket rolled up. I was confused at first - until I unrolled it. Then I realized it was my amazingly awesome quilt!

In the picture, it's draped over my oversized chair. It's one of those chair-and-a-half type deals. I wanted to give you an overall image.

And here's some close-ups!

It's backed with a fleece throw. And the little turtles are so cute - they're even smiling!! Cheesy

1boy1girl1kitty2 mistakenly forgot to include her letter and such in the package so that's coming separately, but I HAD to show it off. Isn't it wonderful?

THANK YOU SO MUCH. I really love it. Even Love was super impressed with how nice it was. Cheesy Cheesy

Whoo hoo! First posting! I received my items from A2K last night! She got me The Softies Kit and two spools of 24 gauge Artistic Wire in non-tarnish silver. I'll definitely be making use of the wire for my Trees!

The Softies Kit looks like a ton of fun with embroidery thread, felt, a booklet and little full-color cards detailing projects. Everything from plushies to iPod cases. This should be fun.

Thanks A2K! Cheesy

Yay! I'm so glad you like them both. Please enjoy! Cheesy

Oooh, Love says I have mail waiting for me at home. Only an hour until I get off work and then I can see what awesomeness is waiting!! Grin

On another note, I am trying to finish up my package for phoenixfiredesigns and am having some serious resin troubles.  It is quite frustrating too.  So hopefully I can figure something else out or fix the resin issues.  Smiley
Cry Sorry to hear it's giving you grief. At least you have a happy package on it's way to you with another shortly to follow. I spent about two hours last night on one of the wist-inspired items I'm sending in your second claim. I think it's a little flawed, but Love says I'm being too critical and that it's great, so hopefully, you'll be happy with it too. Wink
