3431  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Craftster Itself / Re: "Service Not Available" error screen showing repeatedly on: December 01, 2008 08:00:18 PM
The odd thing is that it happens to me almost exclusively during very late-night hours. Like 1am or 2am EST. Rarely if ever do I see it during the day. I don't know if that's just me or if that's part of the overall pattern.

Ugh, I was coming to post the same thing. Only in my case, what keeps holding me up is c.adroll.com It just hangs and hangs and hangs....

It's REALLY annoying. It just takes a looooooooong time to get it to finish and since the rest of the page won't finish loading while waiting on the ad server, I just sit looking at half-formed pages for minutes at a time.

Help please!

(ETA: I'm on RoadRunner's 20Mbps cable modem connection using Firefox 3.0.4 in case you're tracking that kind of thing.)

Thanks for the compliments! Finding the pictures is definitely the hardest. I was lucky enough to have found some catalog pages that fit the bill perfectly. Sometimes it pays to horde things for years hoping for a use for them! Grin

Oh man, I thought it would arrive today too! (I checked the tracking number earlier today to see where it was.) Boo. Undecided Oh well, tomorrow it is I suppose!

These are my first time making bamboo tile pendants. They're a lot of fun! For this set I made Christmasy/Holiday themed ones on a dark mahogany/chocolately brown bamboo.

Christmas Angel / Snowman and Animals / Winter Fairies
Santa Claus / Cardinal Birds / Angel of Grace

They have a dimensional, high-gloss finish.

And a non Christmas one, a Snowy Owl:

(It makes me think of Hedwig from Harry Potter!)

For scale/size:

These were fun and pretty addictive. I see myself making more in the future. Thoughts welcome!

Heh, cool. I'm looking at the front page and I see the newest posts pictures and I say, "Hey, that looks like the X-Men Logo..." Sure enough, it is! Hooray!  Cheesy

Nice work!
3438  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Miniature Christmas "Elf Hutch" (Dollhouse sized mini) Lots of pics! on: December 01, 2008 01:59:00 PM
This is my second year making dollhouse sized miniatures. (Or "fairy" sized as I like to call them.) This one has been themed with a holiday kind of style like something you might see in Santa's workshop. The hutch is hand painted in three colors; a beautiful green, a bright red and a pearl white interior. Additionally, the knobs are painted gold. After painting, I go to town creating all sorts of unique items to fill the shelves. It's very particular, precise work and it takes many, many hours to complete a single hutch.

This is the second festive, seasonal holiday hutch I've made and I call it an "Elf Hutch" for fun.

The top shelf features a Santa hat wearing Teddy Bear, potion bottles, and a bear driving a miniature train. The second shelf has some books (perhaps one of them is a telling of "The Night Before Christmas?"), some potion bottles, some brightly foil-wrapped presents and there's even a candy cane hiding away on top of the books.

The bottom shelf has a rocking horse reindeer toy and some more bottles in beautiful tones of blue, silver and white.

For size comparison, the Elf Hutch is shown next to a standard 12oz. can of soda.

I've been making my Faerie Hutches - and well, Elf Hutches too! - for a couple years now. I just love them. They take an absurd amount of time and attention but they're just so darn cute when they're done, I can't help but keep doing them. Grin

I can't believe how quickly it arrived! I didn't think they'd even bother picking it up from the local branch until Monday let alone get out and on a plane! Grin

I think it's totally cute. I'd wear it baking cookies! Grin
