We can send candy riiiiiiight?  Tongue
Sure, so long as your partner doesn't mind. I think there's only been one person who's mentioned no candy. And, whomever partners with me is welcome to send candy but NOT "sugar free" candy as I'm allergic to artificial sweeteners. But sure! By all means, if you want to toss in some extras like candy or something, you're more then welcome to discuss that with your partner! Grin

First off...those bloomers are too cute!

Secondly....my surprise from urvi arrived!

First off, I have to show you the packaging. It was a sewn fabric. Very unique! I don't think I've ever cut stitches out to open a parcel before!

Inside were two owl print fabric kitchen towels, a beautifully stitched phoenix and some tea. (Well now, the package DID come from India! How can you not want some tea from there?)

Close up of the phoenix:

Is that not lovely? The photo doesn't do the huge variety of stitches justice.

Thank you so much for the lovely package, urvi!

ORGANIZATIONAL UPDATES
For those of you still interested, there are FOUR more days left to sign up!

I am working a close shift until 7:30pm Friday night. I am heading out to WDW for the day Saturday. So I'll accept any applications through Midnight, Eastern Time on Friday. Partners will probably go out Sunday since I'm gone all day Saturday. (Sorry guys, I had to wrangle a day off just so I could go and it was this Saturday or nothing.)

I promise though to get the pairings out as quickly as humanly possible. I really want to pair people up with similar interests as much as possible. (Taking into account allergies, country of origin and such as well.)

If you have not already posted in the thread - please do so! Also, please bookmark the thread so you can keep up with it. I'd like everyone to keep open lines of communication during crafting.

Ok, I think that sums it up for tonight. Thanks to everyone who's signed up so far! Grin
3425  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Is this common? on: September 08, 2008 09:49:26 AM
I'm organizing my first swap (Halloween Swap 2008) and I'm finding I need to turn a few people away because they're new members already involved in their first swap. In two cases, the date to ship is the same date to ship as mine, so it's not like it's even close and if they sent a little early, they could be done in time for the Halloween one.

Does this tend to happen? I just feel bad telling someone that they're not eligible for the swap. And it made me wonder if other, more seasoned organizers have run into this problem as well. More a curiosity than anything.
3426  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: But wait! There's more! (*coughs* Yup. More Trees) on: September 07, 2008 10:03:04 PM
I really love yours!
How hard are they to learn to make?
Thanks for sharing.
I don't know that I'd use the word, "hard" in terms of learning to make them, but maybe "challenging." Or perhaps, "trial and error." Wink It took me awhile to get comfortable with the process and refine it and find the way that worked right for me. I made quite a few ugly, awkward ones when I first started!

I used this tutorial as my jumping point: http://www.beadstudio.com/info.php?a=613 ...but I've changed up a little how I personally make them just by sheer practice. I think everyone just needs to work with the wire and find the little ways that feel right for them.

Thanks for the lovely comment!

Yeah I know. I really need to talk to someone about my obsession with these things. In the meantime, enjoy the fruits of my insanity. Wink (And hey, there's only two this time. That's not a lot, right? Um, guys...?)

I know. I really need to remember I can make other jewelry items besides Trees. But the Trees are just so fun...! Grin
