22  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Little Visitor Swap Round 19- Gallery! on: June 15, 2014 03:56:09 PM
Today we had to run to IKEA for a bookcase. It's out in Ybor ("ee-bore") which is a national historic district of downtown Tampa.

First though, we stopped for a late lunch because we were hungry!

And Piper enjoyed the view of the downtown Tampa skyline:

Then she made me laugh when discovering the glass was a perfect fit:

And finally, she wanted to have a modern art moment in the light-up LED plexiglass box complete with miniature furniture:

Silly Piper!

I was going through my photos (since I still have some I need to edit and post!) and saw this one which I can't believe I forgot to post from Disney!!

Here's Piper about to enjoy an awesome Dole Whip Float!! Grin Grin

Truly the single best treat at the Magic Kingdom. Cheesy

Thanks! Making them so small is definitely a challenge but I love the end result so it becomes worth it. Cheesy
25  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Rainbow Chakra Tree of Life Pendant on: June 14, 2014 08:33:22 AM
Never mind the chakras  this is just so pretty   Smiley.  I love the rainbow and it is so wonderful that you were able to use all natural stones.  The lines and shape of the tree are so graceful and calming too.
LOL I had a husband contact me about making one for his Yoga teacher wife. Which is when I did some research to get the info on the colors and such. To be honest, I don't know much about chakras either but it did provide good inspiration to make another one! And the rainbow colors are just so darn pretty you don't have to know/care about the chakra part. Wink

Thanks for the nice words!
26  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Owl Full Moon Tree of Life Pendant on: June 14, 2014 08:25:39 AM

For this tree, I added a little copper owl sitting in the copper branches in front of a full moon!

I'm pretty famous for my opalite moonstone full moon trees and this is just a fun take on the basic concept. It's like a little bit of nighttime in wearable, wire wrapped form! Grin

27  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Four Season (Wheel of the Year) Tree of Life Miniature Earrings on: June 14, 2014 08:21:23 AM

These wee little tree of life earrings celebrate the four seasons. I used natural gemstone chips in peridot for Spring, dark green aventurine for Summer, carnelian for Autumn and rainbow moonstone for Winter.

The miniature pendants are just slightly smaller than a US Quarter or a little less than 1 inch/24mm in diameter. It takes a lot of fussy finessing to make them look right! Wink (This is where being obsessed with a theme and making trees for so many years pays off! LOL)

These of course also match the Four Seasons Tree I've made for years too - just a lot smaller! Grin

28  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Rainbow Chakra Tree of Life Pendant on: June 14, 2014 08:13:05 AM

I made this with the traditional seven chakra colors of the subtle body in mind. It also happens to be a pretty rainbow! Cheesy

I used all natural gemstones: amethyst, tanzanite, blue topaz, peridot, citrine, (orange) carnelian, and garnet.

29  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / It's a Girl! / It's a Boy! little baby bird nests on: June 14, 2014 08:02:52 AM

I've made bird nests for awhile now but those almost always had multiple eggs. (Sometimes I'll do ones with birthstones and such.) But then I was inspired to make simple, one-egg bird nests with a single blue or pink glass pearl egg. I was thinking of new moms who would want to have something to help announce and celebrate the new addition to the family. Grin

I received today from DaphadillyArt!

A big, soft, comfy Mike Wazowski eye pillow and the cutest baby Mike and baby Sully!
Oh my goodness, this is too funny. Because I received from spikefan today and look at what was in MY package!!

Mike and Sully from Monster's Inc! Grin Cheesy

The tiniest little Phoenix ever! (Jean Grey from the X-Men in her green Phoenix outfit is my favorite!!) It's so teeny but perfect.

A stained glass rose from Beauty and the Beast. This is easily my favorite image from the movie. It's so lovely and well done.

But...

...but....

THE SINGLE BEST THING EVER is coming up next. Combining my massive love of Calvin & Hobbes and Back to the Future.

Bask in the glory!! It's Calvin dressed as Marty McFly. He's even holding the "Save the Clock Tower" flyer!! And Hobbes is dressed as Doc Brown - complete with radiation suit! - and the hoverboard. Seriously. This is amazingly awesome. The level of detail blows me away.

(You can click any of the images for larger versions.)

Thank you SO MUCH spikefan, it's such a great collection of items!! Grin
