Nothing made yet but I bought two supplies online so far. I stopped by Michael's today and there was squat for Halloween items yet. Hopefully soon!

I love to carve the fake (foam) pumpkins so it's not as messy and you can save them for additional years. I always do really crazy, detailed carvings that you get the stencils for. Grin

Yikes!   Shocked
I know! Turns out it was a 3 story house that took firefighters until the wee hours of Saturday to get under control. Sad Thankfully no one was hurt!

In comparison, here's what we did yesterday:

It's just a teaser pic but I will say Piper has now officially seen the Gulf of Mexico! Grin

Here's what little photos I managed to get from the 4th. It just wound up being a terrible thunderstorm and a washout for fireworks.

There was so much lightning! And it was so bright that despite the fact it looks daylight here, it was really dark and storming. The lightning blew out every shot to almost total white!

Due to the crap visibility, Piper was wearing a blue and red glow stick for safety.

And the lightning hit a house and caught it on fire. The flames were so big we could see it miles away!

Absolutely gorgeous - the photo and your lovely kitty Smiley Have liked/voted for the photo, best of luck! Also yay for rescues, we have two rescue dogs and love them to bits!
Thank you! All three of our girls are rescues. In fact, we've ONLY ever had rescue animals my whole life. I think they make the best companions. Cheesy

Marty went to X-Men with us too but I forgot to take pictures
Awesome! I had to wait until the end credits after most people left to get a photo since it was so packed during the movie. Grin

Oh, the Ancient Egypt exhibit looks neat! And I'm impressed with Landon embroidering! Maybe Marty can give me some tips when he gets back so I can try it too!  Wink

Last night, we huddled under a gazebo for about an hour and a half in a WICKED thunderstorm (in which the lightning was so bad it caught a house on fire not far from us that we could see the flames!!) and wound up missing out on actual fireworks. (Except for a few shot off by people next to the park we were at.) So no real photos to share from that.

Tonight, we went to see X-Men: Days of Future Past!

It was good! And we were amazed at how PACKED it was in the small theater. Didn't think it was going to be a sell out since the movie's been out for so long!

We're going to try and see some fireworks after dark tonight, but meanwhile, Piper was so excited about the 4th that she insisted on taking her picture with our POP! Captain America figure. Wink

Hopefully, I'll have some more pics later tonight or tomorrow to share!

10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Photo of my kitty Ginger is a finalist! on: June 29, 2014 07:23:35 PM
So obviously, I'm most known for my jewelry. But I am an avid shutterbug in my spare time. A photo of my fluffy kitty, Ginger, was recently selected as a finalist to be used as ax example image in the sample and calibration kit sent with orders from iPrintfromHome! I'm really excited because not only is it my adorable kitty, but I've never had a photo of mine be recognized for anything. (Not that I've ever entered any photography contests but you know what I mean.)

More info on the contest here: http://www.phoenixfiredesigns.com/blog/2014/06/ginger-is-a-finalist

What's funny is this shot is her "helping" me take jewelry photos. I set up my studio lights and she stuck her face in them and after rubbing the bulb a bit, sat down and I caught this quick shot. Believe it or not, this is just my living room but the brightness of the lights made for the background going all blacked out. This photo isn't even edited; it was just one of those perfect moments right out of the camera!

(Ginger was found abandoned in a canal on the side of a busy street when she was about 6 weeks old. I was originally going to foster her but wound up falling in love and she wound up joining the family. Cheesy Now, she's just over a year old and has turned into the most beautiful, long haired cat and it's hard to imagine her very humble origins!)

I love my kitty and I always thought this was a great shot of her, so it's even more exciting that it was selected as a finalist! I'm proud too that I'm growing as a photographer when I get a shot like this. Grin
