581  Re: Ongoing Wish Swap 64 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by phoenixfiredesigns on: December 15, 2010 08:37:40 AM
Ok, I received from frosty772 on Monday but it's been really hectic around here with holiday prep, cookie baking, crafting, making/packing/shipping orders, etc. so huge apologies for the delay in posting pics.

She claimed me for a surprise and what she sent was an adorably awesome brown corduroy bag! It's got blue polka dot lining. So cute!!

It has a big button with a blue elastic loop closure. Might be hard to see. I have the worst lighting in my living room.

The inside polka dots are blue (because brown/blue is one of my favorite color combos!) and two pockets. Also, there's a key finder which I stuck on the top edge for photographic purposes.

Awesome, frosty772!! Thank you so much. It's so "me"! I actually packed up some outgoing mail in it yesterday just so I could take it with me. Grin

pioneer9 received a few days ago but doesn't have a camera so here's what I sent. She wanted one not-too-large Tree of Life pendant but since it was not-too-large, I went ahead and sent two. Wink

Left is turquoise and right is green aventurine. You can see by the quarter that they're more petite.

Enjoy!

584  Apple Tree! (Tree of Life Pendant with Peridot and Ruby) in Beads: Completed Projects by phoenixfiredesigns on: December 04, 2010 02:39:05 PM
Ive had a lot of requests for more fruit trees so here is the latest! Its a fun take on my normal pendants and features Peridot gemstone chips for leaves and faceted Ruby gemstone apples set in brown wire.

The leaves are made from genuine Peridot gemstone. Peridot is a natural, semi-precious gemstone in the most amazing green color. The birthstone of August, it has been considered sacred and a symbol of purity for thousands of years. It was considered a stone of Springtime and a gift of Mother Nature by the Ancients. It is a stone of lightness and beauty and is said to enhance wellness in the spiritually aware.

The apples are made from 4mm faceted ruby round gemstone beads. Ruby is also the birthstone of July and is considered to be the most powerful gem in the universe. To own a ruby is said to have contentment and peace. Given as a gift, the ruby is a symbol of friendship and love. The ruby is also the symbol of vitality and royalty.

I think it came out really fun and the first thing I thought of was that it'd be fun to give an apple tree to a teacher. Definitely a one-up on a regular apple, that's for sure! Cheesy

Anyway, as always, thoughts welcome!

585  Pink Agate Geode Slice Tree of Life Pendant (Custom request) in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by phoenixfiredesigns on: November 29, 2010 11:37:59 AM
I received a message a few weeks ago from someone asking about a custom piece. She really liked the look of the Agate Slice and Moss Agate Stone Tree of Life Pendant but wanted something in all silver wire and all white beads. Here's the finished result:

It's always fun turning someone's vision into a real piece that's completely personalized just for them. It's often combinations I wouldn't have thought of and is always a fun challenge turning their idea into reality.

As always, thoughts welcome!

586  Japanese Chiyogami Paper Glass Tile Pendants (Another new project for me!) in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by phoenixfiredesigns on: November 27, 2010 03:25:56 PM
I know a lot of people have made these but I'm just trying my hand at them and having fun! I picked up this amazing Chiyogami paper in the Mitsukoshi Department Store in the Japan Pavilion in Epcot. Everything in the store is actually from Japan. They are an actual department store in Japan as well. The paper has such lovely metallic accents; like a pure gold glitter.

Here's the first two I just finished.

The first features an adorable Geisha girl in a pink flowered robe. It is 3/4" square with a silver-plated Aanraku bail.

The second features a Moon Rabbit with a red flower. It is 7/8" square also with a silver-plated Aanraku bail.

The paper was just so beautiful that when I saw it in Japan, I had to buy it and make some pendants.

As always, feedback welcome!

587  Helm Chain Mail Bracelet in Gold and Silver - my first chain mail! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by phoenixfiredesigns on: November 27, 2010 02:24:38 PM
I recently learned a new technique - chain mail!

My first pattern is known as the "Helm Chain" or "Parallel Chain." This deceptively simple pattern features interlocked silver-plated and gold-plated rings into a classic, elegant pattern. The bracelet is 7.5" in length and is finished with an antique goldtone toggle clasp.

As always, thoughts welcome! Grin

I received two of my items this week; one two days ago and the other today!

First up, from Arachnea. She made me a phoenix-inspired surprise. It was a hand painted box with the Potter Puffs "Fawkes" image I love so much. There's also fire and flames to go with the theme.

Thank you so much! It's super cute. Grin

The other item I received today was from JessySihk. She made me a shawl pin with phoenix feathers on it.

It's kind of hard to get a true photo of the color but it's very neat. Thank you, Jessy - it'll go great with the few shawls I've received so far in other OWS rounds! Grin

589  Brown Agate Slice Tree of Life with Hessonite Garnet in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by phoenixfiredesigns on: November 17, 2010 02:16:49 PM
Well, everyone liked the Blue Agate with Amethyst and Topaz so much, I thought I'd do a follow-up! Grin I always have to keep experimenting so here's the latest I made last night.

A natural slice of variegated brown agate is the base for this unique Tree of Life pendant. Genuine Hessonite Garnet gemstones and sterling silver wire form the leaves and branches of the piece. Hessonite Garnet is known as "Cinnamon Stone" because of the lovely variation in color ranging from honey-yellow through red-brown and various shades in between.

Measuring right around 2" height (not including bail) and about 1.75" width at the widest part. It is a bold piece that will be noticed, but not so large as to make it unwearable. Keep in mind that this is a natural stone and has rough edges and is not a perfect oval. Part of the charm of this piece is that it is truly one-of-a-kind by Nature. Grin

As always, feedback welcome!  Cheesy
