~*~*~*~ Alfred arrived home today! ~*~*~*~

He had so much fun in Oregon and came back with so many awesome pictures and souvenirs! SpookyPooky was a WONDERFUL host for Harold and he couldn't stop talking about what a great time he had! Prepare for picture overload!!

Alfred came back with an entire wardrobe! (including the awesome green sweater he's wearing) And so many awesome goodies! (postcards, candy, magnet, keychain, etc., etc.!!)

Also a ton of neat fliers, maps and other info about Oregon.

He also brought home a handmade Oregon state flag color inspired Mickey! And some fun items like journal, bookmark and M keychain.

The handmade scrapbook SpookyPooky made is cool beyond words. It's like a total journal!
Alfred went all kinds of interesting places in both Oregon and Idaho including Four Rivers Cultural Center, the Idaho State Penitentiary (now closed), Boise Zoo and more!

Also, she decorated this amazing wooden box with this AWESOME tree print paper.

Remember that wardrobe I mentioned? Here Alfred is modeling just a few of the items!
...Eddie Bauer winter vest and scarf. Argyle sweater and shirt. Cardigan sweater...

Everything is so amazing!! I can't even believe how cool it all is. SpookyPooky was the best partner ever. And this was by far the most fun I've ever had in a swap. It's just been more awesome then words. Grin Thank you so much for such a great swap!!

I received my adorable little red fox hoop from Terracruz yesterday! Look how cute he is!

Love even tried to steal him. He was like, "is that for me?" I was like HA! Then I said he can enjoy him too because I was hanging him up right away.

And here he is all settled into my assorted wall of awesome art from other people:

(It's the wall right next to my computer and I just started one day by putting on piece up, then another, and then more just kinda haphazardly as I received them. I love that it's random and has no theme or anything. It's just all stuff I like all together.)

Thank you so much, Terracruz, he's perfect! Grin

584  Persephone - Garnet Briolette Tree of Life Pendant in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by phoenixfiredesigns on: March 16, 2011 11:05:26 AM
I truly put love and care into each piece I make. And I love for them to be cherished and enjoyed as much as I enjoy creating them. Every once in a while though, I am lucky enough to have a chance to make something *extra* special. And this is one of those pieces.

I used the most stunning, micro-faceted genuine garnet gemstone briolettes in this piece. They are tiny, tear-drop (or pear) shaped gems. Gemstones of this quality and with this detail of faceting are extremely expensive in the smallest of quantities. And this Tree uses *33* such stones! Shocked

Im calling this completely one-of-a-kind piece, Persephone after the Greek goddess. Shes most famous for her association with the pomegranate and this piece just reminds me so much of that. This is a wholly unique piece for me due to the expensive materials involved. I was lucky enough to get some garnet once but I dont see another opportunity like that coming around again! Gemstones of this quality are honestly not normally in my budget.  Grin Grin

Ive hand-hammered sterling silver wire for the outer hoop and then used non-tarnish sterling silver wire for the roots, trunk and branches. The piece is approximately 1.25″ in height and width not including bail. Its dainty and feminine but still striking enough to be noticed.

About Garnet Gemstone
Garnet is a natural, semi-precious gemstone associated with the planet Mars, the zodiac sign of Aquarius and the birthstone of the month of January. Considered the stone of good luck in business, its also said to increase your self-esteem when worn as jewelry. Its also the stone associated with the first chakra (base of the spine.) Its rich, deep and intense color is unique and beautiful.

As always, thoughts welcome! Grin

I received a staggeringly awesome package from J_Kieviet yesterday. I really needed it too. It was just the one-year anniversary of my best friend's passing and it hit me like a Mac truck. I spent the whole day just a complete mess. I couldn't even leave the house.

So to have such an abundant package arrive was amazing. She sent four claims worth of items...

Everything together.
(A huge overnight bag, a matching cosmetics bag, a matching iPod/cell phone case, and TWO Nook covers! The large bag has one of my couch pillows shoved in it to prop it up and there was room to spare. It also has two outside pockets, one which is zippered.)

Nook covers.
(One in pretty fabric, the other in denim with my PhoenixFireDesigns logo painted on!)

All the waterproof compartments inside the matching cosmetics bag:

And the insides of both Nook cases.
(They both have little pockets on the left side for paper or cards, etc. The Phoenix one has the same four corners as the first, I was just lazy when taking the picture. *laughs*)

I was overwhelmed with the kindness, thoughtfulness and generosity of the package. Thank you so much, J_Kieviet for giving me such a lovely surprise on a very grey day. It really cheered me up a lot.

586  March Tree - Tree of Life in Blue Aquamarine and Silver in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by phoenixfiredesigns on: March 14, 2011 08:10:37 PM
I used March's beautiful birthstone, aquamarine, in this piece. First, I hand-hammered silver to make the frame and then used non-tarnish sterling wire for the roots/trunk/branches. The pendant is approximately 1.5"H x 1"W not including bail.

Aquamarine is a natural, semi-precious gemstone in lovely tones of delicate blue. The birthstone of March, it is said to help you be in touch with your spiritual being. Known as Water of the Sea because of its color, aquamarine been used by sailors for centuries to protect them on the water. Its also been long used as a strong meditation aide and when worn as a necklace, it is said to calm and sooth the nerves.

The variation of colors in aquamarine are so pretty. It's got such a ocean/water feel to the color. As always, thoughts welcome! Grin

Ok, SD card reader still borked, BUT....I found the cable to connect to the camera to get them off. Huzzah! So I can now show off the purse redstar13 made me. (And of course, after all that, the pics were super dark so I had to really lighten them but hopefully, you get the gist.)

It's a cute, pleated purse with big green and yellow polka dots on it.

The inside is a really fun pink satin.

Thank you, redstar13 it's very cute and fun! Grin

I received today from luckdragon! She claimed me for a puffy heart pendant kit and she also send along 100 extra crystals so I can make a second. Both packages (which were sent separately by two different sellers) arrived together today. Hooray!

All together:

Both the crystals that came in the kit and the extra ones she also sent:

Thank you, luckdragon! I've wanted to make this for a long time now. I'm nervous about trying it since I've never done beadweaving before but...I've got some good info and all the supplies. When I get one complete, I'll show it off. Grin
