Yesterday we went over to IKEA Tampa!

Here's a bit of the view of downtown Tampa from the 2nd floor cafe.

And some lunch we grabbed while there.

Apti tested out some furniture.

...and had a moment in the perfectly-sized spotlight! Grin

We also got a chuckle out of the large art print of the Tampa skyline for sale. (Next to London, Paris and NYC.) Grin

And we also saw an actual passenger train go by on our way there. Normally, we only see cargo trains so this was a rare sighting!

We had a fun day!

My package from rantyhippie arrived!

Here's everything:

Hedwig/Harry Potter owl plush, Phoenix (Jean Grey from X-Men) mini pillow, Mike Wazowski and Sulley teacup and saucer, Marty McFly (Back to the Future) cross stitch plus a Spiderman card and Mickey pen/notepad set. Grin

Hedwig Potter plush and Phoenix pillow:

Mike & Sulley cup/saucer set. (Mike's saucer says, "put that thing down or so help me!" and the cup is spotted blue with purple like Sulley)

Marty McFly:

The Marty is funny timing because I'm currently putting together my first ever cosplay costume to attend my first ever con this summer (Tampa Bay Comic Con)....and I'm going as a girl Marty! Just yesterday I took this photo when a few pieces arrived in the mail. It's still has a lot of work and detail but it was the first time I had key pieces all together to try on!

Thank you rantyhippie!!

Today we had to run to downtown St. Petersburg and while we were there, we renewed our Sunken Gardens membership and took a few minutes to show Apti some of the historic gardens. Long time LV swappers will probably recall photos of Sunken Gardens from previous rounds but it's just so darn pretty, I love taking my visitors there! It's over 100 years old and right off the major street but you enter it and though it's compact, you would never expect such lush gardens right off a busy road!

Link for more info: http://www.stpete.org/attractions/sunken_gardens/index.php

(As ever, click any pic for larger version!)

(can you spot Apti in this shot? Cheesy )

Even though we only stayed briefly (there were a bunch of mosquitoes plus we had to go to another store down there before they closed) it was still nice to take a few minutes and enjoy the pretty scenery.

It was a lovely day out yesterday so I took Apti over to a local park. It's right on the edge of Tampa Bay so there's both scrubland and marshy waterfront.

As ever, click any pic for larger version!

(He's hard to spot here but look on top of the canoe!)

(It's a long, windy drive into the park)

(There's a boardwalk along the waterfront and canoe launches)

(Some of the scrublands including this dead trunk covered in Spanish moss)

(Local Live Oaks covered in Spanish moss next to stairs leading up to an elevated viewing platform)

(canoe for rental)

(the view looking out across the estuary. You can see the boardwalk from earlier shot off in the far right middle of the photo)

(The pathways are all bleached out shells.)

There's a little taste of natural Florida! Grin

Oh and I posted some pics from the Daughtry show in my blog: http://giveneyestosee.com/blog/2015/04/daughtry-in-tampa/

(The only ones that had Apti in it were my cell shots since I was using my telephoto lens for the photos of the stage.)

Ok! Zoomination pictures are {finally} edited and ready to share! They start when it was daylight since we got there way earlier than we needed to (LOL) but progress on so you can see some of it in daylight vs at night. Cheesy

Totally o/t but Wildfyre, I was amused to hear Sitka mentioned the other day on an episode of "Mysteries at the Museum" on the Travel Channel! They showed pics of the area which I totally recognized from Clyde's stay with you a few rounds back. Cheesy (The story was about an April Fool's Day prank back in the 70's where someone put burning tires up on the mountain to make it look like the volcano was erupting.) It was kinda on in the background as I was getting ready for bed and I heard, "Sitka, Alaska" and stopped, ran over and rewound. Grin

Meanwhile, on topic we had a busy weekend. I still have to get the pics off my camera but here's a few cell shots.

Friday, we went to Lowry Park Zoo for "Zoominations" - a Chinese lantern festival of lights. We didn't really think about it though and got there shortly after the 6pm opening time....when it was still totally light outside. So we wandered around for a couple hours until it got dark. Night photos will come once I get the pics off my dslr, but here's a few daytime teaser shots:

Then Saturday, Chris Daughtry was playing at Busch Gardens Tampa. Not sure if people outside the US are as familiar with him but he started off on American Idol like 9 years ago. He didn't win actually, but he did so well you knew he'd still make it. Busch Gardens was doing a "food and wine" festival with a free concert each weekend and Daughtry was Saturday's. I had watched him on American Idol and liked him and knew some of his songs from the radio and I was really curious how he'd sound in person, so I told my husband I wanted to head over there. Glad we did because he was a rock star and put on an amazing show!

We were both really impressed and enjoyed ourselves.

Anyway...more pics later but that's a teaser from our busy weekend!

(As always click any pic for LARGER version and check out the gallery so far here: https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/100886695306546989161/albums/6135869302957754369 )

48  Miniature Beauty and the Beast Enchanted Rose Bell Jar Necklace in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by phoenixfiredesigns on: April 27, 2015 08:35:27 PM
I made this for rantyhippie in the craft your fandom swap. She said Beauty & the Beast was one of her favorite Disney films and it's mine too. I always loved the image of the enchanted rose in the bell jar and had an idea to make a miniature necklace versions.

Basically, I found this small two part miniature bell jar and used a small ribbon rose which I dipped in pink glitter to give it the more magical color of the enchanted rose and then I glued it into the jar and glued the jar together. I also glued a cap on the top from which I ran wire to make a loop and strung it on a matching red satin cord.

I think it just came out so fun and really captured the inspiration. Cheesy

49  Miniature Harry Potter (Hufflepuff) Magical Spell Cabinet Hutch in Completed Projects by phoenixfiredesigns on: April 27, 2015 08:20:05 PM
I made this for rantyhippie in the craft my fandom swap. She said she loved Harry Potter and specifically Hufflepuff. So I immediately thought of a fun witch or wizard magical spell cabinet/hutch that you might find in a Hufflepuff professor's classroom.

Click any photo for a larger version!

I painted it yellow and black for Hufflepuff house colors. Then I aged and distressed it a bit to make it look like it's been well used. I added a ton of assorted things like spell books, potion ingredients, crystal ball, candles, scrolls, a witch hat, wands an owl and a small Hufflepuff crest. The candles, witch hat, wands and scrolls I made with polymer clay. It was my first time making poly clay minis. Other items were repurposed mini bottles or beads turned into potion bottles and the crystal ball.

Some close-ups:

Here it is next to a standard soda can for size reference:

I really loved how it came out. I haven't done a mini like this in a long time (they just take so many hours!!) but it was a lot of fun to make. Grin

Olivia herself arrived back awhile ago (linky), but roler didn't get the scrapbook finished before her visit was up. Yesterday, I had a craft show and on the way back home, I stopped off to check the mail. There was a box from Snapfish waiting, which confused me as I didn't recall ordering anything. So imagine my surprise when I opened it to find Olivia's scrapbook within!

The book has a cutout cover so you can see Olivia's little face peeking out. Wink

roler filled the pages with her beautiful photos of Japan. Some pages were even a full image. Such amazing scenery! I'm glad Olivia (and I!) got to see some of how lovely Osaka is.

Thank you for the beautiful photos, roler! Grin
