41  Fluffy orange cat Ginger decided I should photograph HER in Pet-Related Crafts: Discussion and Questions by phoenixfiredesigns on: March 24, 2016 08:19:14 PM
...because I clearly cannot possibly photograph trees without her paws-on assistance.

Yeah, thanks Ginger. Very helpful! Cheesy Grin

@Wildfyre - those are epic! Grin

By the way, I totally forgot to tell the story of Wallace's last-minute adventure before he went home. I realized he had never made it to the beach during his stay and he was set to head back in like two days, so we were in Clearwater running errands and I thought, we'll just pop over to the beach. It's only like 20 minutes or so from where we were vs over an hour from our home by the time you factor in traffic.

Well...we got on the bridge heading to Clearwater Beach and....ran smack into a traffic jam. And with water on both sides it's not like I could turn around! We wound up stuck, rolling an inch or two at a time for an hour. The entire visible span in this pic is bumper-to-bumper cars:

(click for larger)

We were at a total standstill at the sign which is why I was able to take a pic despite being the driver! LOL

After we FINALLY made it through the congestion of Clearwater Beach, we turned and headed south to Sand Key which is another bridge over (and thankfully, MUCH less busy!!)

Ironically, it was FREEZING that day with a ton of wind so I had my hoodie zipped up.

But I wanted to make sure he did get to at least experience our world-famous beaches...

And that's the story of Wallace's final Florida adventure. Cheesy

My apologies to LadybugsAndBumblebees for not posting sooner. I've been sick for a week now and I had a show while sick that got rained out so needless to say spending 1.5 hours setting up for a show, then half an hour later spending another 1.5 hours breaking down from a show in a thunderstorm getting soaked to the bone did NOT actually help my cold. Cry

She commissioned a really lovely piece of art for me as part of her gifts back. I noted it when I was going through the scrapbook but meant to come back to it after I had a chance to read the story. Instead I got sick and totally forgot to come back and post it.

It's done on a thin piece of natural birch bark as you can see on the back:

How neat!! Grin Thank you for the thoughtfulness of the gift. It's such a unique souvenier I will definitely need to get a frame to ensure it does not get damaged.

Again, my apologies for the tardiness of sharing it. Being sick sucks!

Giles is home! Grin

He came home with a fun giraffe basket, a handmade pillow pocket for him to rest in, two scarfs, playing cards from Dylan's Candy Bar in NYC, a bunch of shells and even MORE gifts in the pages of the scrapbook.

Look at all the shells! Cheesy There was even a couple pieces of purple wampum shell. When I was a little girl, my Aunt lived in Long Island and there was a private beach at the end of her street. I remember climbing down to the shore and finding pieces of purple treasure. So that brought back such a warm memory seeing them again!

The scrapbook is so cool. Such a neat way she did it. There's a TON of info, and then little souvenirs within the pages! What a great way to do it. I am really impressed by the level of detail in the book! Grin

I haven't even read it all yet. I'll be sitting down and going through it this evening. It's really well done and the pics are great.

Thank you so much, LadybugsAndBumblebees! Grin

Side note: I was wrapping up the items for Wallace to go home this afternoon and my fluffy girl, Ginger, was a HUGE "help" in the process. She kept trying to get into the box - despite the fact, she really did NOT fit!!

Look, Mama! I made it! Grin

Wallace is squeezing in some last minute fun before he heads home. Yesterday we drove all the way out to Mount Dora, Florida (about 2.5 hours north-east of Tampa and 30 miles north of Orlando) for a large pow wow. On our way home, we swung by Epcot. I wanted to pick something up and it was the last of the four parks at WDW he hadn't been to yet. So now he's officially seen all of them! Grin

And today we have some errands but I'm also hoping to squeeze in one last important Florida destination we never had a chance to get to until now. But sshh! It's a secret! Grin

His scrapbook is 98% finished. Just need to add pics from yesterday and possibly today and he'll be all set. I've had a ton of fun with Wallace and hope he's enjoyed being a Florida snowbird too! Grin

Wallace was excited to be my first ever Leap Day Little Visitor!

We celebrated by running errands and taking a selfie in the car. LOL I didn't realize how bright the sun was though so half of the shot is really over-exposed. Whoops!

Been working on the scrapbook but there's still more to do. Most of the pics are printed though and organized. Now it's just a matter of making the pages. Grin

Thursday was my husband's birthday. He wanted to go see Deadpool. We figured 2pm on a weekday probably wouldn't be too busy.

It was vulgar, raunchy and rude. But HYSTERICAL. Cheesy We enjoyed it!

Today we went over to the posh mall to get some lunch and some cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory to go. The parking lot was full, so we had to park around back by Neiman Marcus. If that's not fancy enough, look at the collection of expensive cars parked in the little "valet" circle by the door:

There was a Bentley (MSRP: From $198,500), a Jag, two Lamborghinis, and just off shot, a Maybach Mercedes (MSRP: From $189,350)  Shocked Grin

I laughed, took a pic with my visiting frog and got back in my Nissan Rogue. (MSRP: From $23,290) Grin

Nah, I haven't been to NYC for over 20+ years. Definitely didn't pop over there on the weekend. Cheesy And you're ahead of me. I have 0% done for the scrapbook. But that's normal for me. I normally binge it at the end. I have the physical book I'm going to use and I collect souvenirs and trinkets along the way and some of that will wind up in the book.

Meanwhile, my habit this round of photographing Wallace with oversized creatures continues with the cow statue outside a local steakhouse where we had a family dinner on Monday:

And then I saw some frog chocolate at Target so I thought Wallace might get a kick out of some fellow amphibians.  Cheesy

In other news, we were SUPPOSED to go to a pow wow today. But it rained. Non stop. Relentlessly. All day long. So we're going tomorrow.

So Wallace took a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge:

Nah, just kidding! LOL It was IKEA. Grin

And after, we hit HomeGoods to find a lamp where Wallace made friends with a giant metal flamingo!

(No, I don't know why I always seem to find oversized animals at HomeGoods! Because yes, that IS a giant ROOSTER behind the flamingo too! Cheesy )

Hopefully, though the weather will be colder, there will be no rain and we can go enjoy the festival tomorrow!
