11  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / Darkening acrylic yarns on: July 03, 2007 04:48:46 PM
Ok, I'm not sure if this falls under the previous dyeing of acrylics question but.....Does anyone know of a way to darken an acrylic yarn? I like the one I'm using but its just a bit too bright (and they don't make this color variegation in a slightly darker shade). Would tea or coffee baths work? or am I just outta luck?
12  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / LYS on camping trip on: June 20, 2007 02:39:09 PM
So I'm not sure where this should go but this board looks good.
Anyone know of a few good LYS/craft stores in the Niagara Falls (either side) or Toronto areas?
Going camping this weekend and wanted to maybe pick up a few new items.
13  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / First finished blanket I'll admit I made on: June 10, 2007 07:29:52 PM
OK so this is the first crocheted blanket I finished and actually like the way it came out. I made it for a friend at work when she started developing random headaches

This is a close-up of the edging
It took 1lb of Love and 1/2 skein of edging (it was a dollar find at a store so no label). The pattern was really easy but I got it from a book a friend at work was using (one of those learn to crochet) so I'll have to ask her again who the writer was
14  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Newbie ? about canes on: June 03, 2007 08:28:00 PM
I just tried making my first cane this weekend (Cat's paw in the center) and when I was cutting it for beads i notcied that the Paw wasn't facing the same direction on both sides. Is this normal or did i do smoething wrong while reducing it?
I'd post pics but I made it for a swap and haven't sent it out yet.
15  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Making fabric buttons? on: April 16, 2007 09:05:27 PM
Hi kinda new at this....
I'm making 2 slipcovers to hide my hideous couch and loveseat and the pattern also comes with 2 pillow patterns. The pattern shows using fabric buttons (same fabric as the pillow)to mark the center but assumes you already know how to make them.
Anybody got ideas on how to do this? Do they make kits or buttons just to do this? Please help.. my living room is just scary right now.
16  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Hairpin lace? on: April 12, 2007 06:56:27 PM
hi
I just recently got a hairpin lace loom and had a stupid question.... What is the third pin for? Can you use the loom with all three pins or is it just in case you lose one?
Also can anybody give my ideas where to find patterns? I checked www.crochetpatterncentral.com and a couple of stores but have only found a few (read the same) patterns.
Thanks
