1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / did you say you wanted more bags? (too many pics) on: October 05, 2009 10:45:13 PM
Well you definately got 'em.  I made 4 between last night and today, and snapped a couple of pics of some previously made bags.

First, some more of my new favorite pattern.

Then, a quilted purse.  It's too small for my tastes, and funny- my dad was the one to tell me that "someone will like it"

And finally the bags I did a while ago...

My mom's school bag:

She wanted two super long straps so it would sit low on her hip.

Magnetic snap closure, and key ring

And my sister's school bag: (didn't take a pic of the flap closed, but it's the black shiny denim)

A zillion pockets

and one inside

and one on the side for her phone

and one on the back

And an older messenger I made for my sister

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Bags like woah! (img heavy) on: October 01, 2009 09:58:24 PM
I've been so busy with work and crafting that i've barely had time to browse this site nevermind post!  So I give you a bunch of my recent projects! (I also made a bunch that I didnt manage to take pics of before sending off Sad I always do that!)

First... I made a set of keykalou curvy clutches for a girl's wedding!

It's dandy damask in pistachio by michael miller lined with a bright orange satin.  mini magnetic snaps.
this was my first time ever matching patterns...I  never ever ever want to do that again.  It's worse than fussy cutting for a quilt, and there is sooo much waste fabric, broke my heart (ps if anyone's looking for small scraps of this fabric (like 2" wide), I have a bunch for free)

Doesn't looked like the pattern is lined up, but it's because of the angle of the camera...I swear, lol.

Pretty, bright orange.

All tucked in and ready to go to their temporary home (until they're given to the bridesmaids). Note the perfectly lined up flaps.

Next is a tote bag with my mother's all time favorite sports team, the patriots.  I love this print.  Cotton exterior, denim interior and strap.  The whole thing is done with fusible fleece, a double layer in the strap.  New closure for me... A tab with the male end of a magnetic snap is passed through a d-ring and then connects to the female snap part on the front of the bag.  I really like how this looks and how secure it is!

Inside

Same pattern.  No fusible fleece just craft weight interfacing (i prefer this look).  Same closure, different tab shape.
Don't know why the sides look rounded, probably because there's nothing in it to weigh down the bottom, and the straps are super heavy duty.

and the inside

And a bonus...I know he doesn't go here, but i'm too lazy to make another post...
My first crochet project, an amaguri lion.
Yes, thats right, he's a hunting lion, in camoflauge and hunter orange yarn (these yarns were specifically picked out by his new daddy).  He whipped up so fast and came out so cute (although I'm not too happy about the eye placement-also the dad's pick).

On a side note... He's actually "stuffed" with river rocks.  He weighs almost 2 lbs!

I also did a swap recently, the Adult Swim Swap http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=321166.0

That's it for now...There will be plenty more coming in the next month!  Happy crafting!
3  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Not so complete quilt on: August 16, 2009 09:54:04 PM
I cannot believe I haven't posted this project before!  I havent looked at it nevermind touched it in almost a year.  The design is all mine, graph paper and pencil.  I love doodling in geometrics, which translates awesomely to quilts.

Anyways...a while ago a friend and I went into my work to pick out fabrics for me to make him a quilt.  I got busy on it and had the top almost done when we had a sorta fork in the road.  I didn't see him as much, but every time i thought of him I worked on it and the top was done in less than a week.  I still have not added the back (though I have it and my warm and natural all ready to go).  I think it's not procrastinating  as much as it is not wanting to let it go.  because the minute it's done it will go to my friend, and he'll love it.

So here it is....My masterpiece bargello... This is on a King Sized waterbed (84x72in)

I have fabric to make a second one, in blues, but have only gotten as far as cutting strips....oh I need more down time!  Thinking about making a small lap quilt one tho Smiley
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Some gifts... on: May 21, 2009 12:17:40 PM
So recently, my bf's daughter turned 5.  I usually spoil the crap out of her, but money's a lil tight with the new car and all.  (I still spoiled her though).  I decided to make her a bag to carry some stuff when she goes out with her dad.

wish i had a more detailed shot...but oh well.

Then, my mom asked me to make bags for 3 of my cousins that she could give them at their dance recital.

A simple tote like bag...

A tinkerbell mini duffle...

And this is my new favorite style...I already made one for myself (that i am using but havent taken pics of)

That's it for now... Smiley  C&c welcome
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Busy busy busy me on: May 04, 2009 05:15:48 PM
So I ventured away from purses for a moment to make my sister a dress for her ball.  Designed by myself (it's actually a repeat of a dress I made for her a couple of years ago, no pattern now or then).
Front:

Back (they actually just meet when she isn't hiking it up):

Then I decided to make myself some shirts....

And another....that I'm having issues with!
(non-flattering pic)

And here's the problem:  I tried to get it to fit better by adding a small dart (circled)... Anyone have any suggestions on how to alter/fix the pattern to prevent this?
I really wanted the straps to just go straight down in the back, but the crisscrossing helped the front a little.

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / I'm addicted to bags on: April 22, 2009 10:34:23 AM
So i've had a weird schedule this week: off sat, off sun night, off mon, work @ 5pm tues, and off today.  So that means I've been busy sewing.  Mostly 13 poodle skirts.  But because the girls who need them are on vaca (middle school) I can't finish them (add poodles and adjust length/waists).  So I went back to bags.

First I bought some fabric to make myself and a coworker matching purses...

Then one of my mother's coworkers asked me to make a bag similar to one she already had, with some minor adjustments.

A friend/coworker of my sister just had a baby.  So I made her a tote, changing pad and blanket

So soft minky on the back Smiley

I bought some clearence fabric that I've been loving forever, and chose a pattern I had on hand

I'm soooo pissed that the plaid on the front flap is crooked Sad  I'm thinking of ripping it off and just doing it with the brown also.  I had been sooo careful when lining up the plaid with the front/back of the bag, I must have just been too tired to realize the flap was super important too.

So all in all a pretty productive "weekend" for me Smiley
7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Tons 'o stuff! (lots of pics) on: April 15, 2009 09:34:50 AM
Made a bunch of new totes, and a couple purses.

"Forrest Friends" tote collection (Ok, so I know forest is spelled with one "r" however, I live on Forrest St. So I decided I can do that, right?)

previously posted...

there is also a Fox applique one that I have to finish.
and a couple more...nonforest-y ones

8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / a bunch of bags... on: March 24, 2009 03:22:15 PM
I've been sooo busy working and sewing that I haven't posted.  Here's a few of the bags I've finished in the past couple of weeks.  There are a few I need to finish, and a bunch that I made, but didn't take pics before they disappeared to their new homes Smiley

First, a buttercup bag... from this tute:  http://madebyrae.blogspot.com/2009/02/free-buttercup-bag-sewing-pattern.html

Next a pleatness for a coworker (I haven't decided if I want to put in a zipper or not)

Next a bag that i made....similar to pleatness, but no pleats, different size, and a whooooole bunch of extra pockets/pieces.

Now a cute tote...

That's it for now....comments, concrit, questions welcome!
9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Glittery vinyl and camoflies wallets! on: February 18, 2009 10:19:23 AM
Hi,

So I saw a couple of wallets on here and decided it was time to try one!
I chose this tutorial http://elily00.wordpress.com/tutorials/wallet/
It was pretty easy, minus the topstitching Xo( which i didn't even finish on the red one.

Camo Butterflies

Red Glitter Vinyl

Group Shot

And I saw these at work (Joann's) but they're way too big for jewelry for me.  I realized they would make beautiful key rings!  They took all of 5 seconds to make (open jump ring, put on charm, close jump ring) but I think they look nice. Wish I could take credit for the art,  but I'm not so talented in that area!

C&C welcome!
