Very cool.  Love all the attention to detail!

Thanks guys for all the kind words!  Totally made me blush...  ^_^
As for the pattern, I drafted it myself (took some classes before), but really its just a jacket with a hoodie  and then an easy pair of pants with an elastic waist band.
The bandolier I handstitched onto the jacket before I attached the lining.  Good thing this guy is still fairly small, so that didn't take too long.

I made this for my brand new nephew, barely a month old.  It's actually two pieces, a jacket and pant, both fully lined.  I drafted the patterns from his measurements (which changed by the week since we was a big eater, hehe).  I was worried that the fur would irritate him, but according to his parents, he was cozy and comfortable the whole time he was in it.

A few suggestions:
- Egyptians (black wig, heavy eyeliner, white dress, gold jewelry)
- the fanta girls (except there's only four, but you can improvise by adding two more colors)
http://www.2blowhards.com/archives/BlowhardF2004FantaBillboard3-thumb.jpg <pic of the fanta girls in case you weren't familiar
- Disney princesses (Snow White, Ariel, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Belle, Jasmine)
- Playboy bunnies (the old school black swimsuit, collar with bowtie, and bunny ears and tail- though that might be chilly.  maybe add black trench coats over them?  but then you'd all look like flashers, which could be funny...)
- the scary nurses from Silent Hill (video game)? http://silenthill.wikia.com/wiki/Bubble_Head_Nurse

okay, that's all I've got in my head for now.
6  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Ideas needed! for postpartum and newborn costume ideas on: September 03, 2008 04:41:56 PM
Dunno if you're still looking for a costume idea, but I had thought of this for myself when I was ttc (yes, I was thinking of costume possibilities for my then unborn child.  hee hee!)

Anyway, back to the topic.  I had envisioned my husband to be a sushi chef (in a kimono style top and easy black pants, fake knives, fake fish, and a headband) and I would be the waitress, with our child as a sushi handroll (here's a pic of a sushi handroll http://preview.tinyurl.com/6xutdg ).  The waitress costume would be similar to the sushi chef, except that you'd be carrying the "handroll", and maybe a couple set of chopsticks in your pocket. Your 3 year old son could either be another chef or maybe a ninja (don't ask how a ninja fits in with a sushi restaurant theme, except that they're both japanese...  ^_^)

This would be a great newborn costume since they like to be swaddled, and the sushi chef costume would be easy to nurse in (and easy on a postpartum body) since its a kimono.

Happy costume hunting!
