61  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / first scarf on: January 02, 2005 02:42:47 PM
this is the first scaft i've crocheted.  i made it for my friend.  when she heard i was learning to crochet she asked me to make her a scarf.  so i did.

i had to use different yarn for the fringe, because i ran out of the yarn i'd used for the rest of the scarf.

(just a random close-up because i like playing around with my camera.   Tongue)

what do you all think?  any suggestions on how to improve myself for the next scarf i make?
62  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / yay for craftyness in school! on: December 08, 2004 02:32:25 PM
today i went down to guidance to make my schedule for next year (i'm gonna be a senior...how scary is that?) and i have 2 crafty classes on my schedule.  Grin   i'm taking intro to food and textiles, which is 10 weeks of cooking and 10 weeks of sewing, and Creative Crafts A, which is a jewelry making class.  my guidance councler actually suggested that to me, after noticing some of the home made jewelry i was wearing.
sadly i may drop the intro to food and text. so i can take pre-calc.  i'm not sure yet though.  still, i'm really happy i get to be crafty in school.  especially since once school started this year, my craft production reduced greatly.
63  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / birthday present for my friend on: November 29, 2004 02:56:35 PM
This is the craftiest thing i've done for awhile...and it's really not that crafty, but seeing as how my craftiness has been lacking, i wanted to post it.  School takes away a lot of craft time.  stupid school.  Sad

anyhoo...my friend desperately needed a new CD holder for the CD's in his car.  i was with him once, and he asked me to put in a CD, so i opened the thing and like, at least 2 CD's attacked me.  it wasn't even that they'd fallen out of the sleeves...the sleeves themselves had fallen out.  so i bought a fairly cheap CD holder, and decorated it.  i just used some fabric paint.  i was going to stencil the words in red, but i couldn't find any stencils the right size.  they were all either too big or too small.

i gave it to him today and he loved it.   Grin
64  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Photobucket on: September 17, 2004 02:04:48 PM
is photobucket not working for anyone else but me?  like, the website will open, then i got to my album and it says the page cannot be found, and all the pictures i have on there aren't showing up on the websites i have them posted on.   Undecided

is anyone else getting that?

66  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / spiffying of the backpack on: August 28, 2004 02:24:12 PM
well...school's starting in less than a week ( Cry) and while my backpack wasn't boring i thought it could use a lil...pretty-fying.   Smiley  (don't mind the blurry pictures.  had my camera on the wrong setting...)

67  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Poky Little Puppy pillow on: August 24, 2004 02:33:48 PM
Anyone remember the Little Golden Book story The Poky Little Puppy?  I used to love that book when i was little, so when i saw a Poky Little Puppy shirt at Hot Topic i knew i had to have it.  i grabbed the biggest size they had there (since i'm well...not small...and they were those shirts that are always super tiny anyway) and bought it.  got home, tried it on and...it didn't fit!  it was too small! i was heartbroken and refused to return it.  so finally the lightbulb clicked...make it a pillow!  it took me awhile to find the right fabric to use as a main pillow part, but finally i found this:

so i cut out the Poky Little Puppy, sewed it on, sewed the pillow together and ta-da!

I'm learning how to crochet (and probably knit too) because you people can make such cool things.  does anyone have any easy projects for a newbie in the crocheting world?
