The white one is a lamp shade i covered with venise(or venice i've it both ways so not sure which one) lace, its hanging over the light fixture with ribbon,, i wanted it to hang it lower, but then you could see the light

The black one is just the lamp shade metal rings. i added extra rings made from wire coat hangers and connected those with jewelry wire, theres no light in this one, its just for looks

i finished my ruched bathing suit, this was my first bathing suit using poly lycra, and it wasn't really bad sewing like i thought it would be,,it was going to be a tankini but then i just sewed at the bottom of the top to the leg bottoms, it's supposed to look like this one from pinupgirlclothing:

i think it's pretty close considering the price of that one, compared to just a yard of lycra fabric, i used a princess cut pattern.
heres my suit:

I am making a ruched swimsuit and have used the slash and spread method to alter my regular pattern,,,,should i ruche my fabric the sew the seams together, or sew the seams together and then ruche ,,,,(I'm not ruching with elastic just with the thread method),,,,,,,,thanks

 I am wanting to make a ruched pin up bathing suit, the pattern is a Princess Cut (where the seams go over the bust down,1 front panel and 2 side front panels, for people who aren't familiar). I assume I'll need to have extra length when I cut to ruche fabric, not sure how to ask my question, but do I cut my fabric normally then ruche, do I need to alter the pattern to lengthen the bust curves length wise and width wise, or do i cut basic rectangles, ruche the fabric, then cut fabric to according to pattern? Did that make sense? I've made princess cut w/ modest skirt bathing suits and gathered tired skirts but not gathered anything on curves yet, I would like to make something similar to this,

but I think since this is my first attempt I might make it as a 2 piece where the tank is longer and looks like a 1 piece,, any advice and opinions would help,, thanks!
