thanks to your inspiration, I ordered myself the starter kit from heename.  Fun fun fun!  I love it and wanted to thank you for the link!!  Here are my first 3 attempts-

my birthday present to myself.  I drew it.  I'm happy with the way the tattoo artists colored it in.  It's on my inner forearm.

Here's a taste of my stuff just for kids rooms...  I really like doing this sort of thing, but people don't really want to shell out the dough for originals for their kids rooms, plus they are so anal about matching the dang bedding.  Anyway- here are a few of my paintings for your viewing pleasure...

One day I had nothing to paint on.  I went into m backyard and under the deck found a couple of old boards.  I hacked them up and made these signs for baby's rooms...

thank you thank you thank you.  very nice of you to say!  I'm actually an illustrator.  I haven't been painting all that long.  I do commercial work- for the scrapbooking and paper products market.  I've always catered to grannies and little kids- so I have anxiety about making "cool" stuff.  Here's an example of my typical stuff-

blush, blush- what ego boosters you guys are!  I just didn't know how I felt about these.  They are quite different than what I normally do and sitting alone in my studio with no feedback, well, I just didn't know if they were good or just plain weird.  thanks...here's the other I did today, I wanted to experiment- focus more on the bird and use different colors.

wow- thanks for the nice comments everyone.  They are acrylic on those cheap little canvas boards.  I mod-podged on bits of newspaper, scrapbooking paper and some fabric here and there.  No sharpie- just black paint.

Funny you mentioned doing a large one- here's one I did today along the same lines...



I have no clue what I'm doing with them.  I have so many different styles- I guess I'll just add this new style to the heap of mish-mosh.?

Here's a new collage thing I'm fiddling around with.  What do you think?  I haven't experimented much with this style of painting- any suggestions for improving or general comments?  I'm not sure if I like them or not yet.  (sorry about the glare)
