I added my block for LouraPalmr on page 2.  I love how it turned out, but I was almost done with it before I realized it is essentially the same star that Whoopdedoo has been doing.  Oops!  I hope that's okay.  It has a little bit of a different look.  I was clicking through some old pictures and was inspired by this quilt from a show I went to because I thought it would be a good scrappy block as LouraPalmr requested.  I got really excited and started sewing without realizing it's a really similar block...

This is a little quilt, about 40" square.  I colored the pictures with Pentel pastel dye sticks.  What's not to love about a project that combines coloring and quilting, right?  It is machine pieced and hand quilted.

I have always wanted a quilt in this style, but have always thought it would drive me crazy if I had to do all the blocks myself.

Is it just me or has it been super quiet on the quilting board lately??  Anyone have some sewing to share...I'm so bored without the quilting board!  Oh that rhymes kind of.

I am making my l'il brother a t-shirt quilt.  It is 50"x64" so far and I can't decide if I should put a border on it or not...  Although he is MY little brother, he is actually quite big (six feet three inches) so maybe even for a throw quilt it should be a little bigger?  But I HATE doing borders...mweh.



K now I want to know what you guys are doing...

OK as for me - I started my G'ma's Garden about a week and a bit ago.  I like it so far!!  It's reallllly portable but not too fussy, and I can do it while the cat is in my lap (like when he interrupts my other crafting and demands to be paid attention!) 

My color scheme is "shabby chic" and I'm using lots of prints with dark grey centers to the flowers.  I feel like it's a bit boring so far - I'm going to have to broaden my range of prints a bit.  I haven't decided what's going to go between the flowers yet.  I'm thinking...muslin?

   
  

I got some lovely machine embroidery squares from craftydeb!!  Makes me just want to start stitching





Using them in Irish Chain quilts is the first thing that jumped into my mind, but I've got a couple other ideas too, so we shall see!!

OK I wanted to post this all day whilst I was at work, but naturally the quilt was at home.  This is NOT the crazy that I made b/c mine was NOT this cool  .  This is my high school graduation quilt that my mom made me - lucky kid, right??



Anyway, I want to share it b/c she pieced onto I think four or five large foundation pieces and then sewed those units together into this treasure.  I think it has more of an "all over" feel than a "block" feel, right?  It is twin size.

Just wanted to share!!

If you want to jump right in I say go for it  .  Remember you are only trying to please yourself here, and only know what you want to put into the project and what you want to get out of it.  So just do whatever most appeals to you!  Have fun; you have officially made me want to start another crazy!! 

OK, since you asked, ha ha!   

Here is my imfamous first quilt, the crazy quilt.  I feel like I talk about it all the time.  I used the "stitch and flip" method of construction - you don't have to cut any pieces, you just take scraps and sew them down.  A quick google reveals - nothing.  I can't find a tutorial on this sorry   But it's dang easy, although it would have been a lot more complicated if I wouldn't have had a big ole box of scraps to use.

Same method of construction, but obviously a very different look.

Ultimately I hope whatever you choose for your first quilt won't be too frustrating, because I would hate for you to be scared off!  But when all is said and done sometimes you just have to jump into it and see what happens...!  As I have said before my first quilt (that crazy quilt) was at least two years beginning to end, and that second quilt top was finished in 2005 and still isn't a quilt, so there's no rush, either
