21  Re: Summertime Tunic, IK Summer 07 in Knitalongs by frenchnewwave on: August 23, 2007 06:48:46 AM
Here is my finished tunic, after blocking and adding the ribbon. It looks ok from the front, but I'm unhappy with the back. I wish I had made it a bit smaller.

Pls excuse the crappy hair/no makeup. I took the pic before going to bed Wink

More pics on my blog, if interested.

Glad you like the paper and stickers!

Here's the great package I received from GatsbyGirl. So much stuff!

I asked for tea towels to embroider, and ephemera. She sure delivered:

There's a ton of Paul Frank catalogs and ads, with a ton of cool images. Where did you get all this!?

Also, she added a few wisty surprises, including these adorable felt pins:

And - something I've been admiring from afar for a long time - the Aquarius felt tote bag. I LOVE THIS:

I was truly surprised and thrilled. Thank you so much!!! I know my camera is on its way out, so the pics are a bit blurry. If you have better ones, please do share.

Well, I finally finished my tunic. It's a bit...large. I went for the "small" instead of "extra small" but I think that was a mistake. It's blocking right now, so maybe that will help.

Here's a pic of it still wet from blocking. I'll get an action pic tonight.

24  Re: Amanda's Squatty Sidekick anyone? in Knitalongs by frenchnewwave on: August 09, 2007 08:01:55 AM
I'm joining the KAL! Well...I'd like to, at least. I have this yummy Noro Big Kureyon that would make a fantastic bag, but I only have one skein. It's a chunky weight, so no need to hold two strands together. I may try to make a smaller version by casting on fewer stitches. What do you think?

25  finished fingerless gloves (first full DPN project) in Knitting: Completed Projects by frenchnewwave on: August 02, 2007 09:46:59 AM
My first DPN project was started for me by a friend. She cast on and did a few rows to get me started on a hat with super bulky yarn. Once I was comfortable with DPNs, I decided to start a project myself.

Fingerless gloves! These will come in handy at my work, where they seem to keep the temperature somewhere below freezing. I'm also working on a shawl to bring as well, lol.

I haven't blocked them because I was anxious to wear them. I'm not sure if it will make much of a difference?

Made with Koigu KPM fingering weight yarn (which I adored!).

26  The Red Scarf Project in Crafty Charitable/Social Causes by frenchnewwave on: August 02, 2007 08:18:58 AM
Check it out ---> http://www.orphan.org/index.php?id=40

What a sweet idea. I happened to recently acquire two skeins of red novelty yarn that wasn't really my style. But I wanted to put it to good use. I found this charity that perfectly fit the bill.

Here's the scarf I'll be sending on Sept. 1:

It's made from Trendsetter Savvy, and is quite warm.

30  Re: knit crochet goodie bag swap gallery! in The Swap Gallery by frenchnewwave on: July 27, 2007 04:17:49 PM
I'm really pissed that my camera bit the dust this weekend and I haven't been able to take pictures of the amazing package rebeldaisy sent me. I'm hoping to get it fixed tomorrow and take pictures then (last resort, I will use my camera phone).

In the meantime, here's a list of what she sent:

--A huge black tote that is perfect for larger WIPs.
--Three back issues of Vogue and Interweave (I've already picked out a vest I want to make)
--A pair of bamboo needles
--A Magknits pattern for the Sophie bag (cute!)
--2 skeins of Cascade 220 to make the bag (orange and yellow)
--Adorable Craftster magnets that I can't wait to show you all!
--Some really useful knitting tools and goodies, like stitch markers, etc. and a cute zippered pouch to store them
--A handmade knitting journal with pages for recording pattern notes, a needle conversion chart, abbreviations glossary, and blank pages. It's so adorable and useful, and I love it!!

I hope I'm not forgetting anything. I'm at work, so the goods are at home. Thanks so much rebeldaisy! This has been a really fun swap Smiley

FINALLY I have my camera back. Here are a couple pictures at last!

This is not including the magazines or magnets b/c I left them at work by accident!
