11  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: IYP 26: So you think you can craft! Gallery on: August 19, 2014 03:41:21 PM
It's posted already! Woo!

" what pattern you used for the crochet shrug?"

I winged it! I saw one made with a sort of thick embroidered fabric. It was all just one piece that was folded over and sewn to create sleeves and I thought, gee, I think I could crochet something like that. So I did! I made myself a blue one with fuzzy blue yarns so I would have one to go by if ever I wanted to make more. (I joked to HSG that mine looks like I have cookie monster arms!)  Cheesy

I love the snail! So cool!
The plague doctor is my fave. His expression is so great. That face.
The Great Traveler is super! So much stitching. WOW!

Yesterday I took some of my own photos of the things for HSG and have found the perfect box so now I'm ready to get these things all packed up and shipped!
I hope she likes them!   Grin

Over the weekend I made cloth labels for two of my items. It was actually a lot of fun.
I'm not very good at staying in the lines and there was a bit of bleeding markers but I think they look nifty.  Grin
I hand-sewed them onto the items.

I just can't wait for her to see them!

Hmmm, was it one of those spring loaded scissors?

I've got the big project for my partner almost done.
I sewed a fleece backing to it so it would look nice and be soft in the back.

It was difficult to do by hand and I had to scrunch it under my sewing machine and tackle it.
Don't worry. No sewing machine needles were harmed during the making of this project! I swear!  Cheesy

I still want to do a few more things to the front but it's nearly there.

This is my first swap in a long time and I'm all nervous and excited to join in!  Grin

20  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Chocolate Bunny & Peace Seat Cushions on: April 14, 2014 05:22:26 AM
I've finished this just in time for Easter. A Chocolate Bunny chair pad.

I used Sugar 'n Cream all cotton yarns and a size H hook.

The bunny pattern is from Susan Lowman's "Hot Stuff for the Holidays" wiggly trivet and coaster book.
I've used that book to make some other chair pads in the past but this is my first bunny.

Here's my own wiggly peace design chair pad. I wish the yellow were darker but it's all they had in the stores I was in. Plus, no one had true blue! So, for the blue, I had to use Sinfonia 100% cotton yarn and double up so it would be as thick as the Sugar 'n Cream yarn.

Here's a comparison shot of the chair pad with the original wiggly trivet on top. (The trivet was made from size 10 crochet thread). I wanted the chair pad to be that dark yellow too but, oh well.
(Mondrian colors always look awesome!).

The trivet patterns work great for making chair pads. You don't have to use cotton yarn either. I just thought it would be nice and durable. Many people make cotton scrubbies with the yarn so it should last a while for just sitting on.
