1  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Happy Heart Day Dress (img heavy) on: February 14, 2008 01:14:16 PM
I made this dress for dd yesterday.  I don't know that pattern number offhand, but I can find it if anyone wants it.  It's just a basic A-line dress.  Could've done it without a pattern, but I didn't!

Little dd is modeling the hat I also made yesterday and posted here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=227527.0

We found that wacky fabric at Walmart.

Don't you love her fashion model poses?  I'm seeing America's Next Top Model here.

2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Cutest Newsboy cap - Happy Valentine's Day! (img heavy) on: February 14, 2008 11:11:14 AM
I made this for my three-year-old yesterday.  I'm hoping she's still wearing it at her school party today.

It's made from her pattern:  http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=66574
I can't stop making these hats!

3  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Newsboy Cap for my little one on: February 12, 2008 06:56:04 AM
I made one for myself and loved it so much, I made another one for Abby.  She loves Holly Hobbie and this is a lot like Holly Hobbie's hat in her new movies.  I bought the instructions from her:  http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=66574

Here are the action shots (as close to action from a 5 year old recovering from the flu and an ear infection):

I'm working on a pink one for little sister, but I'm about to run out of yarn.  Thanks for looking!

Edited to say:  This is the child's version of the cap that Koi posted recently.
4  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / I kissed my sewing machine on: February 11, 2008 02:58:22 PM
I am so in love with my sewing machine, I gave it a little smootch today.  She is becoming more and more dear to me every day.  I experimented with the overcast stretch stitch today and I can't believe how awesome it is!  I've been thinking about sergers lately, but this stitch will hold me off indefinitely.  It looks like it's serged!
By the way, I have a Kenmore 19233 and bought based on reviews on patternReview.com.
5  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Ottobre Dress for Spring on: February 11, 2008 07:07:03 AM
I tackled my first Ottobre pattern this weekend.  It felt like it took forever, but actually I started it Saturday afternoon and finished Sunday evening, in between taking care of my sick 5 year old.  Not sure how that happened.
So, my 3 year old was the lucky recipient.  The dress is on the cover of the Spring '08 issue.  Little one saw it and told me she wanted it, so I went for it.  All that gathering!  It's not perfect, but she loves it and dresses are her thing.  You can see jealous big sister in the background.  They are almost the same size and yellow is HER favorite color.  I'm surprised she was such a big girl about it, but she has gotten a few Mommy-made items lately.

This is my first time posting a completed project, so I'm not sure how to do the photos.  We'll see if it works!

Comments are welcome!

6  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Container Cleaning ?? and other container ?? on: July 05, 2007 04:11:47 PM
Hello - I'm trying my hand at making lip balms.  I was left with a wax-coated pyrex measuring cup.  Does anyone have any tips for cleaning wax or oil coated containers?  I don't want to pour anything down the drain for fear of coating the pipes.  I'm going to be doing soap as soon as my supplies arrive, so any tips on cleaning those containers would be helpful too.  Also, what are your favorite containers to use?

Any advice is appreciated!  thank you!

Stacey
