21  July is birthday month in Dessert by yberry on: September 06, 2007 11:29:57 AM
I had a baby on July 1st, who joined my husband and daughter who were both born July 20th. I know July was quite a while ago, but I just finally loaded the pictures onto my computer - so here are the cakes I made for the birthdays:
My daughter has a thing for bunnies, so I made this for her daycare:

Her favorite character is Elmo, so this was a no-brainer for the family party:

But I surprised my husband with a cake which refers to his PhD research, which is of Bose-Einstein Condensates (BEC), so I made him a different kind of BEC - Cake!!!:

22  SEPTEMBER GALLERY / card-a-day in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by yberry on: September 05, 2007 04:06:34 AM
Ummm... I saw there wasn't one yet, so I took the liberty of starting it myself...
Yep, ladies and gents, post your September cards here!

And allow me to start it with 3 cards I made over the weekend, after the inspiring 21st Red Sea Jazz festival last week:

First of all, the cookies and those crayons sound great to me.

For my daughter's 2nd, I made these:

for all of the kids, kept well within the standard budget for goodies, and the response was really good. I think that your efforts will most likely be appreciated, it sounds like something both the kids and parents will approve of.
Long story short - go for it!

These two people share a compartment in my brain, for some reason...

These two quotes relate to my recent childbirth experience.
and to the fact that I am becoming Teeisme's unsettlingly obsessed fan...

As long as we're at it, here are a few I made for a green swap on ATCards.
Greenwash

Green Heart

Frog of Wisdom

I made a couple more, but these are my faves of the green batch...

Does this go here? I had a productive rush a little while back, and I finally got around to scanning the fruits... So here are a few to begin with...
First is "Lord Almighty" - I have started making ATC's inspired by songs, this one is a Hebrew song that I love ("Ribono Shel Olam" in Hebrew). I think it's self explanatory, the words written on the picture are the first two words of the Kaddish, a Jewish prayer for the dead.

And something maybe a little lighter - this is what Coldplay's "Amsterdam" did to me:

The next two are also inspired by songs by the same dude who inspired the first, Berry Sakharof:
"Gimme Some Room"

"L'autre" ("The Other", in French)

**edit - yeah, and should I mention that everyone's work here is great. Colorfuldayz, you are one big wist for me anyway, but Mom is Mom Forever hit the nail on the head, and if you ever wanna trade it, I will take it even with the typo... I mean, if you can blame your kids for it than it's even sort of an artistic statement, isn't it?

28  Re: Felt Mascot or Little Stuffie Swap - R5 -- Gallery!! in The Swap Gallery by yberry on: August 09, 2007 12:12:46 AM
Welcome to Donnie & Sammy, Verity, and Flapper Francine - the people in this swap are so unbelievably talented and creative!

This includes you, lis enthusiasm.

I guess you Brits are used to this, but I cannot describe the excitement of a package labeled "Royal Mail". It made me feel so regal...
Anyhoo, the package contained Snorkel the kitten.

Snorkel came with a sardine, her favorite food (great minds think alike - I sent Bingo with some of his favorite food for the road too), and a ball of yarn (which is good because I don't let anybody near my stash).
Her bio came on a map of London, which is also useful because my hubby is going there for a conference next month, and I don't want him to get lost shopping for gifts for me.
Here she is having a heart-to-heart with our older cat, Rambo.

They have already made plans to go clubbing together this weekend.

Thanks Lisa! I adore her!!!

Hey lis! Congrats for the big move!!!

Here's Bingo being a tease until you get to meet him in person:

*dances a victory dance in wife-beater and undies around the bedroom because Bingo landed safely and the baby finally fell asleep*

MrsG_SoCal - your cards are so relaxing... I could just pin them up on my headboard so I see them before I go to bed and after I wake up...
hardyswanton01 - love your interpretations!

And for all the Big Boy fans out there - Yiftah was born on July 1st, at a whopping 9 pounds, 10 ounces. In spite of his size, he came out quite easily (God bless epidural), and of course I had to go and make an ATC of him straight away:
